Kanye West graced his hometown of Chicago with Sunday Service this weekend. Ye held his hip-hop and gospel pop-up event on Chicago’s Huntington Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island for a crowd of eager fans. Tickets for the free event were released on Saturday and were sold out almost immediately. Kanye has been taking Sunday Service on the road for performances across the country. Last month he brought the event to Dayton, Ohio, to honor the victims of the mass shooting in the city. Earlier this year, he held a special Easter Sunday edition at Coachella.

Lil Nas X releases “Panini” music video

Now that “Old Town Road” has completed its near-endless, record-breaking run at #1, Lil Nas X is reminding the world that he has more heat under his belt. The Mike Diva directed video, takes place in a futuristic realm where it’s always nighttime. Lil Nas X portrays an inescapable figure who shows up on hologram billboards, dancing with choreographed robots in back-alleyways, making sure his smiling face will always be seen. The video includes appearances from Skai Jackson, star of Disney Channel’s “Bunk’d”. Lil Nas X took to Twitter to announce the release of the new music video this morning. Check out scenes from the music video below:

  • Lizzo finally got her first number one song on Billboard this week with ‘Truth Hurts’

Lizzo finally got her first number one song on Billboard this week with ‘Truth Hurts’

We freaken did it, guys! Lizzo finally has a number one track. It has been a very long time coming and I am really happy for Lizzo, who has been grinding for so many years to get to this point. Recently, she stated that a few years ago she almost quit making music, because she felt that she was not getting the recognition that she deserves. I have loved Lizzo for years and I agree that she should have been getting this recognition a long time ago. Along with ‘Truth Hurts’ reaching number one, Lizzo has also seen two other songs of hers rise the Billboard charts this week, with ‘Good as Hell’ reaching #52 and ‘Juice’ reaching #82. Although ‘Good as Hell’ is from a previous album, ‘Juice’ and ‘Truth Hurts’ are on her record Cuz I Love You, which is easily one of my favorite albums to come out this year. Check out the music video for ‘Truth Hurts’ and listen to the entirety Cuz I Love You below!

  • The Charts: Lizzo’s two-year journey to the top of the Hot 100

The Charts: Lizzo’s two-year journey to the top of the Hot 100

    Billboard Charts August 2019
    • Lizzo finally earned her first No. 1 song as “Truth Hurts” reached the top of the Hot 100 Chart two years after it was released. The song first appeared on the chart back in May and has steadily been climbing ever since. This week, it jumped from the No. 3 position, making this the third straight week that a new No. 1 has appeared on the chart.
    • The surge to No. 1 was propelled by two major Lizzo performances, first on Today and then on the VMAs. She also released two remixes, one with DJ CID and another with DaBaby. Lizzo and DaBaby even performed their remix together this past weekend at Jay-Z‘s Made In America Festival.
    Top songs of summer 2019
    • Billboard released the final version of its Songs of the Summer chart this week, a list of the top-performing songs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Of course, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’s “Old Town Road” topped this year’s list, with Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” also appearing in the top 5.
    • Post Malone had two songs on the list, led by the Swae Lee assisted “Sunflower” at No. 8, and including his solo hit “Wow.” Both songs will be on his new album Hollywood’s Bleeding, which drops this Friday. Drake also appeared twice, including his feature on Chris Brown’s “No Guidance” and his song “Money In The Grave” that features Rick Ross.
    • Perhaps the biggest accomplishment was Polo G and Lil Tjay’s “Pop Out” making the list at No. 18. The young rappers saw their breakout hit perform well this summer and earned them some much-deserved attention. With both artists signed to Columbia Records, the two are sure to collaborate again.
    Ginger first week sales
    • Boy band Brockhampton debuts at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 charts this week. Their new album Ginger sold just short of 78,000 units and continues to build their fan base. The album trailed only Taylor Swift and Young Thug, who took the top two spots.
    • A pair of veteran rappers had strong first weeks for their respective projects. Jeezy’s TM104: The Legend of the Snowman sold 53,800 in its first week, good enough for No. 4. Missy Elliott, riding the success of receiving the lifetime achievement award at the VMAs, claimed the No. 24 spot with her new EP Iconology, which sold 17,000 this week.
    • SAINt JHN’s second album, Ghetto Lenny’s Love Songs, debuts at No. 39 with over 14,000 units. Led by features from Lil Baby and Meek Mill, the album has been gaining attention as the young artist finds his place in the hip-hop world. And not to be overlooked, Rapsody achieved her highest-charting album with Eve, which debuts at No. 76.

Wiz Khalifa releases “Taste” freestyle and “Really And Truly”

Wiz Khalifa fans are in luck, today as the Pittsburgh rapper releases his take on Tyga’s smash hit “Taste” and “Really And Truly” produced by Harry Fraud, a flip on Wayne Wonder’s “No Letting Go”. The rapper has hinted at several new releases over the past week, once tweeting a fan, “I got so much unreleased shit I just gotta put it out.” It looks like September is going to be a busy month for Wiz Khalifa.
