“Baby” Tops the List for the Rapper, While He Responds to Critics of His Inauguration Performance
Nelly has officially crowned “Baby” as his favorite Ashanti song, revealing the pick during a playful sit-down with his wife on Cocoa Butter. The rapper was asked to choose between some of Ashanti’s biggest hits, including “Foolish,” “Rain on Me,” and her collaborations with Ja Rule — but ultimately sided with “Baby.”
“‘Rain on Me’ was at a different time in our relationship,” Nelly said, hinting at some personal history. “We gon’ slide ‘Rain on Me’ along like that and stick with ‘Baby.’”
He added that his decision to pass over tracks like “Always on Time” came down to one thing: “Yeah, some of them are with my brother Ja… ‘Baby’ is just my wife. I’m gonna ride with ‘Baby.’”
Outside of music, Nelly has made headlines for his political comments following backlash over his performance at a Donald Trump inauguration event. Responding to critics on Instagram, he defended his appearance: “I respect and love our country from top to bottom… any president that calls on Nelly, it would be an honor.”
He also called out critics for what he described as racial double standards, pointing out his support for Black family values amid growing political polarization.
