Nicki Minaj joins the “Free Gunna” movement

Nicki Minaj recently sat for a chat with Jada Pinkett Smith for Interview Magazine where she opened up about a number of topics.

The mother of one explained that she has a unique approach towards music, one of the reasons why she rejected Gunna’s feature request. She was potentially talking about “P Power,” a song that ended up featuring Drake and appeared on Gunna’s album DS4EVER.

She also didn’t forget to call for the College Park native’s freedom. “I don’t think the new female rappers really understand who I am,” Barbie said.

“A lot of the girls that came before me, they really were those sexual beings, and I was so inspired by them,” she added. “But I’m not like that, I’m more the goofy girl. Even some of the new male rappers—I turned down a Gunna song because it was just moaning and groaning on the track, but Drake ended up doing it and it worked great for them. And free Gunna by the way, I have to make sure I say that.”
