Atlanta rap star Offset is facing new controversy after social media influencer Celina Powell alleged that he sent her threatening messages when she pushed him to repay a personal loan of more than $15,000. According to Atlanta’s WSB-TV, Powell told her roughly three million Instagram followers that Offset, born Kiari Cephus, allegedly owes her “more than $15,000” and has refused to pay her back, prompting her to share her claims publicly and spark discussion about possible legal options and online harassment.[2]
In a series of Instagram Stories posted this week, Powell wrote, “If ANYTHING happens to me, OFFSET did it,” and claimed she is “tired of this grown man threatening me almost everyday and got me living in fear cuz he owes me $15K+.”[1][2] The Shade Room reports that Powell said she has been trying “for weeks” to recover the money she allegedly loaned to the rapper, but that her efforts have “all” been met with threats instead of repayment.[1] Screenshots of the alleged messages have circulated across social platforms, although they have not been independently verified, and Offset has not publicly addressed the accusations as of press time.[1][2]
The situation escalated after Powell recently went viral for posting a video that appeared to show her in bed with Offset, which The Shade Room notes added more fuel to already intense online speculation around their connection.[1] Following her latest posts, social media users flooded comment sections debating whether Powell should pursue the matter in court, with some pointing out that “the courts are open Monday–Friday” and that attorneys are “available 24/7,” while others questioned her decision to expose the alleged situation before reportedly receiving her money.[1] Local outlet WSB-TV framed the dispute as a claim that the Atlanta rapper is “refusing to pay her the thousands of dollars he owes her” and allegedly responding with threats.[2]
The allegations arrive at a sensitive time for Offset, who has been rebuilding his solo brand following the 2023 murder of his Migos bandmate Takeoff and the group’s subsequent disbandment.[2] While there is no public record yet of Powell filing a formal police report or civil case, the viral nature of the screenshots and her explicit warning about her safety have intensified conversations around artists’ private financial dealings, influencer relationships, and the legal weight of documented threats shared online. Until Offset or his team respond, the claims remain alleged, but the episode underscores how quickly personal money disputes between rappers and influencers can shift into high-profile legal and reputational battles in the social media era.
