The bear on the cover of Kanye West’s first three albums was named Dropout

The bear on the cover of Kanye West’s first three albums, 2004’s College Dropout, 2005’s Late Registration, and 2007’s Graduation was named Dropout.

Dropout Bear made his first appearance on Kanye’s debut album College Dropout as a college mascot representing Kanye. He wanted to be in the cover but didn’t want his face to appear in it, so he used the bear head of the school’s mascot they were shooting at. Kanye West used it on Late Registration, and Graduation to complete his educational trilogy. The dropout bear evolved into an animated character, with the release of Graduation, Kanye had Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami animate Dropout. 808s and Heartbreak began a new phase for Kanye West.
