Roddy Ricch claims storage hunter tried to extort $50k over Grammy award

Roddy Ricch has accused a storage hunter of trying to extort $50,000 from him after coming into possession of his Grammy Award.

Last week, YouTube personality and storage hunter Prieto Hunters claimed to have found the rapper’s Grammy for Best Rap Performance, which Roddy won in 2019 for his collaboration with Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy on “Racks in the Middle.” The reported prize mysteriously surfaced after Prieto purchased a storage unit at auction for $280.

While the Grammy was initially claimed with relative ease, Roddy Ricch took to Instagram Live to state that this was more complicated: Prieto Hunters was demanding a diamond watch and then $50,000 for the Grammy.

“My personal assistant was in a debilitating accident with trauma to his brain,” said Roddy. “Since I travel to Miami so often, I have my things in storage for safekeeping because he has mishandled everything because of his accident.”

Upon learning about Prieto having the award, Roddy said his team immediately reached out. “We offered him something, but he basically said what we were offering wasn’t enough,” he shared.

“I said to him, ‘Bro, I got 10 bands for you.’ He said, ‘That ain’t shit. I want $50,000.’ First, he asked for an AP [luxury watch], then demanded $50,000.”

Roddy condemned Prieto Hunters for allegedly wanting both money and publicity rather than just returning the award. The incident has stirred controversy and arguments over celebrity belongings and ethical conduct in storage auctions
