‘s Death Row purchasing deal is still “being negotiated”


Having rotated through different ownerships since its inception in the ‘, Snoop Dogg became the new owner of iconic label Death Row Records earlier this month.

Albeit the purchase was “an extremely meaningful moment” for the West Coast legend, Billboard reports that he still doesn’t own the masters to all of ‘s albums released via the label, as well as one of ‘s.

Pac’s albums that were released via Death Row are All Eyez On Me, and The Don Killuminati: The Seven Day Theory. Another album that is “no longer on the label” is Dr. Dre’s solo debut, The Chronic. Snoop’s deal with MNRK (formerly eOne Music), which is managed by Blackstone is “still being negotiated” to transfer ownership to material released under Death Row.


“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped value,” Snoop Dogg revealed in a statement. “It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me.”

He added, “I would like to personally thank the teams at Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked collaboratively with me over several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality. I’m looking forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records.”

Snoop released his latest album, Bacc On Death Row, on February 11 to mark his new venture. The album featured guest appearances from the likes of , T.I., , , The Game, , Uncle Murda, among many others.

The rapper also joined Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige to grace the stage during the Pepsi Halftime Show at the Super Bowl LVI on February 13.
