Snoop defends his decision while addressing Black critics after performing at pro-Trump event
Snoop Dogg is standing firm in the face of backlash after performing at an event celebrating Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The rapper, who had been an outspoken critic of the controversial president, took to Instagram on January 26 to address the criticism following his performance at the Crypto Ball, one of the many inauguration events in Washington, D.C., earlier this month.
In a candid video, Snoop told his critics, “Y’all can’t hate enough me for me, I love too much. Get your life right, stop worrying about mine.” He continued to make it clear that his identity and loyalty to his community remained unchanged, emphasizing, “Still a Black man. Still a hundred percent Black.”
He also addressed the criticism from some of his Black followers, urging unity and self-empowerment: “We gotta learn to pick each other up instead of pulling each other down.” Snoop also acknowledged his history with Trump, revealing that he softened his stance after Trump pardoned Death Row co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris in 2021.
Despite the social media backlash and comparisons to past criticisms of other artists performing at Trump’s 2017 inauguration, Snoop remains unapologetic about his choice.
