Pain got successful to the point he started taking cars for songs instead of money
T Pain has seen success many artists would dream of. During a November discussion at the Nappy Boy podcast, Pain recalled charging artists cars for features instead of money. At this point in his career, he felt like he had “enough money” and only took sporadic cars, especially vintage from people who needed verses or hooks.
“I started charging n-ggas cars for songs,” Pain said. “It came to a point where I had enough money and n-ggas was like, ‘We need a hook.’ Hey, look, it’s a ’72 Impala that I want. I don’t even want a new car, bro, go get me a old school and I’ll do this hook for you tonight.”
