The Roots have revealed the lineup for their second-ever Roots Picnic with the cool title A Roots Picnic Experience: Class of ’95. It will happen on June 8, 2025, at the Hollywood Bowl, and will be the event that commemorates the classic sounds of 1995 through a star-studded roster of hip-hop legends.
Headliners will include Lil’ Kim, Method Man & Redman, E-40, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Raekwon, DJ Quik, Goodie Mob, and Havoc of Mobb Deep. The Roots will not only take the stage but will also provide the backing for all guest performances.
Reflecting upon the theme of this event, Questlove shared: “1995 was our true arrival…the year when our first major release was sent into the world: Do You Want More?!!!??! Hip-hop was entirely new ballgame back then… Those were the days that produced classic album after classic album, unleashing countless new ideas about art.”
In fact, it is going to be an event very likely to remind fans of an extremely beneficial time in hip-hop. Strangely enough, more acts would still be announced. It promises a fierce homage to the music, creativity, and cultural markers of 1995.
