Questlove and Black Thought lead intimate performances honoring the groundbreaking album

The Roots are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their seminal album Do You Want More?!!!??! with an exciting announcement for fans. The legendary hip-hop group, led by Questlove and Black Thought, revealed they will perform a series of intimate shows at the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City. The six performances, taking place from March 13 to 15, will focus on material from the iconic album, giving fans a chance to relive the magic of their 1995 debut on a major label.

Released in 1995, Do You Want More?!!!??! marked a pivotal moment in The Roots’ career. While it was their second studio album, it was their first with a major label release, following the independently produced Organix. The album’s impact is undeniable, opening doors for the group to continue their groundbreaking musical journey for decades. Reflecting on its legacy, Questlove shared on Instagram, “This was the first record that opened the door for us to create 13, 14, 15, 16 more albums.”

Despite not releasing a full-length album since 2014’s …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, The Roots have reignited anticipation for their 15th studio project. Questlove recently credited the collaboration between Common and Pete Rock on The Auditorium Vol. 1 as a major source of inspiration for their creative process. “This album is going to spark a renaissance,” he said, referencing the energy surrounding other legendary hip-hop artists, including Nas, DJ Premier, and Snoop Dogg, which has fueled their own motivation.

As The Roots continue to build on this momentum, fans can look forward to a significant release in 2025. While details of the album remain under wraps, Questlove teased that the timing of its arrival will make perfect sense. For now, the NYC residency offers fans a rare opportunity to experience Do You Want More?!!!??! in a more intimate setting as The Roots honor the milestone that helped define their legacy.
