    21 Savage and Drake have a longstanding friendship

    21 Savage performed at Pandora-sponsored Morehouse and Spelman Homecoming Concert in Atlanta Wednesday night (October 19). The rapper surprised concert-goers at Forbes Arena by bringing out Drake as a special guest.

    The pair performed their chart-topping smash hit, “Jimmy Cooks,” for the first time, and Drake went ahead to perform “Nonstop.”

    “Along with OVO, I really live this 4L shit,” Drake said onstage. “By the way, I didn’t get invited to this show. Nobody from Morehouse asked me to perform. My brother brought me here, so make some noise for 21 Savage.

    In 2018, Savage said that Drizzy doesn’t get the respect he deserves for helping young artists blow.

    “He did a lot of shit he didn’t have to do,” the Savage Mode 2 rapper told GQ. “He do a lot of shit for up-and-coming rappers, period. I don’t think he get his respect for that. Every fuckin’ year, he pull a new artist up. Ain’t no other artist on his level do that shit.”

    21 Savage attended a campaign event for Georgia Democratic governor candidate Stacy Abrams last month where he opened about his struggles for being a British immigrant in the US.

    “Like, I went through a lot,” 21 said. “I wasn’t born here. I just feel like, people in schools they don’t get paid enough to do the work they really need to. So I think that’s where it started.”

    Stacey Abrams added on the issue, “I think what’s so important and your willingness to share it is that many of the challenges we see start in school. When young people are treated like tiny criminals… When they are bullied… It not only changes your experience, it changes your outlook.”

    In September, 21’s lawyer filed a motion in court to have the evidence obtained during the rapper’s arrest in 2019 thrown away. The attorney labeled the arrest an “unlawful stop.”

    DJ Akademiks says he’s now “cool” with Meek Mill, thanks to 21 Savage’s intervention

    DJ Akademiks and Meek Mill have had a rocky relationship in the past, but according to him, 21 Savage came and leveled things up.

    “Me and Meek cool! We good now. I believe we’re good,” Ak told DJ Envy during The Breakfast Club interview on Monday (September 26).

    “21 Savage did something I thought was very dope. He gave this explanation, he said, ‘When two friends are going at it, if it goes far enough, you got to pick a side.’ And he basically said it was going to a point where he was going to be forced to be like, ‘Yo, are you really rocking with this n-gga Ak or you rocking over here?”

    He added, “[21] put us on the phone, and I got to salute Meek as well because I don’t think a younger Meek Mill would’ve been on the phone, and I think Meek has shown a little bit of growth,” he continued. “I was down to have a conversation with him for, like, four or five years. We’ve been on DMs, but it’s never been a real conversation.”

    “I thought that was a grown man discussion and I enjoyed it and I appreciate 21 Savage for facilitating it.”

    21 Savage hasn’t issued an explanation for canceling his Rolling Loud show

    Atlanta rapper 21 Savage was supposed to perform at Rolling Loud New York on Sunday (September 25) but his set never came to life. He was to preceed Future who was headlining.

    While the 26-year old platinum rapper didn’t reveal why his show was canceled, he did shoot a tweet promising to never step on a Rolling Loud stage again. “Rolling Loud will never get a show out of me ever again.”

    It’s reported that Ski Mask The Slump God and Big Sean were among those who missed out on their shows. On Friday, NYC mayor Eric Adams and NYPD barred drill artists 22Gz, Shak EK, and Ron Suno from performing at the festival for fears of violence.

    Drake is eating well off his seventh studio album, Honestly, Never Mind. According to HITS Daily Double, his collab with 21 Savage, ‘’Jimmy Cooks,’’ is sitting on top of Top 50 Song Revenue Chart with $219,016 earned in the week ending on June 23.

    In total, Drizzy has six songs in the Top 10 earners including ‘’Sticky,’’ ‘’Falling Back,’’ his feature on Future’s ‘’Wait For You’’ alongside Tems, ‘’Texts Go Green,’’ and ‘’Massive.’’ The multi-award-wining rapper earned a total of $1.47m from singles in that week.

    Drake earns his eleventh No. 1 song and 21 Savage his second

    Drake scores his eleventh No. 1 song on Billboard Hot 100 Chart, thanks to the 21 Savage feature, ‘’Jimmy Cooks.’’ Produced by Tizzle, Vinylz, Tay Keith & CuBeatz, the record debuted atop the charts this week. This also marks 21 Savage’s second No. 1 song.

    Drizzy is now the first male artist to simultaneously score No. 1 song on Hot 100 and No. 1 album on Billboard 200 twice. Honestly, Never Mind also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard this week, reminiscent of when ‘’Way 2 Sexy’’ & Certified Lover Boy simultaneously topped Hot 100 and Billboard 200 respectively.

    Although there was no rollout for the album prior to its release, Honestly, Never Minds managed to sell 204k album-equivalent units in the first week.
