    50 Cent compares 2Pac & Eminem’s lyrical approach

50 Cent shares his thoughts on how race impacts an artist’s approach in the process of writing, using 2Pac and Eminem as examples. During a recent conversation with Brian J. Roberts, Fif highlighted the two rappers’ respective classics, “Dear Mama” and “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” in his explanation.

“I’ll pick two Hip Hop artists that have been profound and really prolific artists within our culture that were very similar but tapped into different responses,” he explained. “So Eminem’s mom, the drug usage was part of it and he would do: ‘Sorry, momma / I never meant to hurt you / I never meant to make you cry / But tonight, I’m cleaning out my closet.’

“And then 2Pac’s mom also has some drug usage involved in her experience, and he said: ‘Even though you was a crack fiend, momma / You always was a Black Queen, mama.’”

He added: “I think the tones of anger and the difference in the two of them are that Em’s anger is coming from things were supposed to be right, and 2Pac’s statement almost has terms of endearment in there because he’s like, ‘Well, we still all had.’

“The expectations of things going right from a white American perspective versus accepting the idea of things not going right from an African-American perspective are what make the difference in the tones of those records.”

50 Cent reveals he’s spent $23M in legal fees since 2003

50 Cent says he’s spent millions of dollars on lawyers

During a conversation with Brian J. Roberts earlier this month, 50 Cent made a shocking revelation that he’s coughed out $23M on legal fees since 2003, his breakout year. The rapper revealed he’s needed legal counsel ever since he gained success.

“I spent over $23 million legal fees since I had success in 2003,” Fif claimed. “So when you say you successful or you rich in a different way, that money was just written off as expenses of business. You in it and I’m going, ‘What?’ When I’m looking at it myself, ‘That’s how much you really spent on that?’

He added, “The only thing someone in America can do is sue someone. They’re gonna sue and there always gonna be pro-bono or say, ‘We’ll defend you for 30 percent of what we receive off of this because we do see a case.’”

“If I give [my fans] an EP and they feel is a monster;” he explained, “if I call it a soundtrack and I put five or six songs of my material inside it and they love it, I’ll still have the same gratification. I’m on tour right now, I just did Prague last night, the O2 [Arena] sold out; I do it again tonight. You see what I’m saying?”

The New York mogul added, “I’m on a world tour right now. What I need, a new CD to do it? We’re starting to enter that stage where Prince was at, where he could say, ‘Yo, Imma do a show tonight,’ and it sells out.”
