50 Cent Might not Work on Pop Smoke’s Next Posthumous Album

50 Cent is not sure if he will contribute to Pop Smoke’s next album

50 Cent promised to fulfill the late Pop Smoke’s dream of taking his mom to the Grammys, and he did it. He executive-produced Pop’s debut and first posthumous album, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, and it ended up being one of the biggest albums of last year.
50 Cent might not take part in finishing Pop’s next album. Recently speaking with Kris Kaylin, Fifty revealed that he is not sure if he will work on the upcoming album.

“Steven was originally Pop’s manager and the label person he was signed to,” he explained. “He spoke to me about the new record. I’m not sure if I’ll participate with that record. I just wanted to make sure that his record did what it was supposed to.”

He went on to say, “My interaction with Pop was that he was looking at me like I could tell him the right way to go and everything would work based on what I was saying. It’s unfortunate that it actually happened. It’s like the other side of it — when I’m coming up early on, I’m so connected to the environment that everything in the environment I’m subjected to the same.”

The New York legend also explained that Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon wouldn’t be as big if it weren’t for his involvement.

“So even with my success in music, I’m still subjected to everything the neighborhood is subjected to,” 50 said. “Cause of who I’m standing next to. In Pop’s scenario, personally, he told me he wanted to take his mom to an award show. Outside of producing the record and having it perform well, I did all the promotion for that record to have it work. They would have put it out and you’d have to find it out of basic interest.”

At the beginning of last month, Pop’s manager Rico Beats, took to Instagram to announce the late rapper’s next album is on the way.
“I see and hear everything kept it cool tho no worries pay back around the corner Pop smoke new album loading,” he wrote.

Clash of the Titans: 50 Cent and Kanye West

Heavyweight vs heavyweight. Two of Hip-Hop’s most dominant forces dropped their album on the same day, September 7, 2007. 50 Cent‘s third album, Curtis, was backed by 50’s confidence and coming off the release of The Massacre. Kanye West was also dropping his 3rd album, Graduation, and dropped Late Registration, prior. Both were set to do amazing numbers, then it turned into a competition, one that will be remembered in Hip-Hop history.

The competition would end up being a lighthearted beef, with 50 Cent saying he’ll quit music if Kanye West outsold him. It turned into a publicly displayed competition. Their appearance on Rolling Stone’s magazine cover and taking over 106&Park for “Clash of the Titans”.

Ultimately, Kanye West would outsell 50 Cent in his first week.

Graduation: 956,000 copies sold first week.

Curtis: 691,000 copies sold first week.

The competition helped put Hip-Hop in a higher ranking of pop culture.

  • A Pop Smoke, 50 Cent, and Roddy Ricch Collaboration is On the Way

A Pop Smoke, 50 Cent, and Roddy Ricch Collaboration is On the Way

Ahead of Pop Smoke‘s posthumous debut album release, the late Brooklyn rapper apparently has a track with 50 Cent and Roddy Ricch dropping soon, according to HotNewHipHop.

50 Cent took to social media to announce the news, and producer 808 Melo confirmed as well.

The news of the new track arrives just after Pop Smoke’s debut was delayed in light of recent tragic events in the news.

Universal Music Group executive Steven Victor shared the new release date along with a brief message on Instagram last week.

  • 50 Cent Gives Update on Pop Smoke Posthumous Album

50 Cent Gives Update on Pop Smoke Posthumous Album

50 Cent is executive producing Pop Smoke‘s posthumous album. The album is set to arrive this month, but not without some finishing touches and fitting features.

50 Cent spoke with Ebro Darden on his Beats 1 Radio show and Ebro asked about updates in relation to the Pop Smoke album. 50 said the album is still on schedule for release and is hoping to add some organic features to the project.

“I definitely want to get Roddy Ricch and few other people that I know would fit on these records organically. I’m going to send it to them and I’m going to say ‘play it. Listen, if you don’t feel this is it, don’t even touch it. Please send it back, delete, and just move on,” 50 said on the project.

It’s clear that he doesn’t want any forced material on this album. Pop Smoke was gunned down in mid-February during an armed burglary situation. While the loss of the young rapper is still something to mourn, there’s also the fact that his killer has yet to be caught, which doesn’t sit right with many people.
