DaBaby Shares His First Single of 2020, “Shut Up”

DaBaby gives us an early taste of his new track “Shut Up,” by releasing the music video. He makes it clear at the beginning of the video that 2020 is his year. As great of a run, as he had in 2019, 2020 will be even better for him.

DaBaby even addresses the people that say all of his music sounds the same. The video takes us on the road with DaBaby and we catch a scene where Diddy is talking to DaBaby’s son.

Oh, and he does switch the flow up.

    Watch the music video below.

  • First-week sales projections for DaBaby, Kevin Gates, and Young M.A.

First-week sales projections for DaBaby, Kevin Gates, and Young M.A.

DaBaby is expected to earn his first No. 1 album as his latest project, Kirk, is projected to sell 150,000 units in its first week. This will end Post Malone’s three week run atop the Billboard 200, and it continues DaBaby’s incredible rise in 2019. The Charlotte rapper dedicated Kirk, which is his last name, to his late father who passed away earlier this year. Led by the introspective single “INTRO,” and including features from Nicki Minaj, Migos, and many more, the album is a strong follow up to his debut album, Baby on Baby, which was released earlier this year and peaked at No. 7.

Kevin Gates also released his second studio album, I’m Him, last week, and while it is not projected to sell as much as his debut album, it is still on track for a top 5 debut with 65,000 units. Perhaps what is most impressive about this number is the fact that Kevin Gates did not have any features on his album, but instead opted to release 17 solo tracks. It is also important to remember that it has been three years since that strong debut, so while some fans may have moved on, his core fan base has continued to support him.

Young M.A. was the third prominent hip-hop artist to release an album last week, as she finally gave her fans the debut album they have been waiting for. Cleverly named Herstory In The Making, the album is expected to sell 20,000 units in its first week. Young M.A. is an interesting artist, mainly in the way she waited years before dropping an official album. However, that does not change the quality of her music, and just like with Kevin Gates, her fan base supported her with solid sales numbers.

Charlotte, NC is standing tall and strong behind DaBaby’s confidence, skills and work ethic. Sharing the “Intro” to the album, DaBaby separated himself — from himself. With listeners accustomed to certain rhyme scheme and cadence, DaBaby decides to get personal and let listeners more into his world.

“There’s plenty to learn from me and about me, in this project, DaBaby said in an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood. It just shows my versatility and my range. It gives you way more of my personal life. Ya’ll gonna get an entire new sound and new wave of energy.”

DaBaby drops “Intro” for new album

Fresh off dropping his banger filled album Baby on Baby back in March, the Charlotte rapper is back releasing new music. Earlier in September, DaBaby confirmed his new album Kirk with Beats 1 music host Charlie Sloth after the host asked the rapper “When is it coming?” DaBaby then answered with, “ On God, Charlie, three to four weeks.”

DaBaby announced via Instagram that he dropped a new song to lead off the campaign of his new album. He decided to drop his “Intro” off the album which goes over some pretty personal stuff from the North Carolina rapper’s life. Still, DaBaby utilizes his adored flow and lays down a pretty solid track. Personally this gets me excited to see what the artist formerly known as Baby Jesus, is gearing up for us to enjoy. We can most likely expect Kirk to drop sometime in the upcoming two weeks
