Four New York stars are working to take the connection between working out and rap further. Recently speaking to the Amazing Allhiphop Podcast, Maino revealed that he is teaming up with Jim Jones, Fabolous, and Dave East to create an album inspired by their gym habits with the title, Fit Lit, just like song on Jim and DJ Drama’s tape We Set the Trends. He added that the project is almost done.
“I’m gonna tell you some secretive shit that I’ve never talked about,” Maino said. “It’s actually an album that’s I’ll say 85 percent done. Me, Jim, Fabolous and Dave East. Fit Lit– it’s us together because we be working out. That’s our little Fit Lit Club. We got some heat.”
Lloyd, Dave, Vado and Drama have a new tape on the way
Llyod Banks, Dave East and Vado are working on a new project dropping later this year, and DJ Drama will host it. Recently speaking to Still Got Da Juice, Vado revealed the super trio will release their project in the last quarter of the year.
He explained that each of the three will drop solo projects before the collab tape arrives. “It’s looking like it’s going to drop around probably October, ’cause Banks is about to drop, East is soon about to drop again, I’m bout to drop so the tape is going to be around September-October,” Vado explained. “But you know, we also on Banks’ album so you’ll hear us together again.
“We’ll probably give y’all a freestyle just to get the streets warmed up. Shoutouts to DJ Drama. You know he fucking with us, so he going to host it. We working.”
On Black Friday of 2017, Dave East dropped the first installment of the Karma series. The late Nipsey Hussle also dropped: No Pressure (mixtape) with Bino Rideaux. Both Dave and Nipsey were a part of the The Marathon Agency, started by Nip, Karen Civil, Steve “Careless,” and Jorge Peniche. Dave was featured on Nipsey’s “Blueprint” track on the EP, and it’s a chill factor to listen back to some of the lyrics Dave spit on the song and Nip’s tremendous efforts to follow through with the goals he had set. In between that three-year gap from then to now, we received Dave East’s debut studio album (Survival) and Nipsey’s major label — and final album — Victory Lap.
“Late” is a word that appears often before the mention of some of the closest people to Dave East’s life. Dating back to his 2015 track “Numb,” East is sadly no stranger to losing people close to him. On Karma 3, East brings his emotions to wax and speaks on the confusion of surviving so much and losing so much — all simultaneously. “So Confusing” details the losses of his close ones.
“I know 100 niggas, my age and older, got their niggas around,” East spits, as he adds new ink to his skin. “Tired of tatting homies, in my mind, I’m bout to lose it.” East has Nipsey and his best friend Kiing Shooter tatted on his back.
Mary J. Blige, Bino Rideaux, Young Dolph, Doe Boy, Popcaan, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Benny The Butcher, Jozzy and Trey Songz are featured on the album.
East stated there’s a distinct difference between his mixtapes and albums. With albums, there’s more of a focus on concept, whereas the mixtapes, he can have fun with his bars and give his fans what he wants, lyrically. But he’ll still have tracks for the ladies, newcomers and even the older fans.
Karma 3 balances all the sides that makes East’s fans love him. The transition of energy from “Handsome” then to “Believe It Or Not” are two prime examples of what brings the tape to equilibrium.

Dave East 2019 has been one of the busiest in the industry. Between performances, endorsements, and the Wu-Tang series, East makes sure he spreads his eggs in multiple baskets.
Many assumed that Kairi Chanel (released in 2016), was his debut album. However, East explained that Nas would always executive produce the album. Survival, the album, will arrive on Nov. 8. East shared the tracklist, featuring Rick Ross, The-Dream, Ty Dolla Sign, Max B, Jacquees, Teyana Taylor, Nas, DJ Premier, E40, Ashley Leone, Lil Baby, Gunna and more; it’s stacked with features.
