Around a decade ago, a mysterious blog shared a conspiracy theory claiming that back in the 90’s, a group of Hip Hop figures conspired to encourage black men and women to glorify crime in their music so as to set up young black people into prisons.
While the theory claims those involved were executives, it alleged that N.W A, a Rap group encompassing Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E and others, had direct knowledge of the plot.
This week, Cube ran into a tweet discussing the same and he responded writing: ” “Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and they all stink! What evidence do you have to make a statement like that?”

Eric Wright—also known as—Eazy-E was the first rapper to attend an event with a president, then President George H.W. Bush. President George H.W. Bush didn’t invite Eazy-E, nor did he know he was coming. Eazy-E had accidentally received a fundraising letter from the RNC to join The Republican Inner Circle dinner at a price of $1250 a plate. Eazy-E and his manager Jerry Heller attended the dinner in 1991 and spent a total of $2,500. Arnold Schwarzenegger was also in attendance.
Eazy-E’s manager Jerry Heller, wrote about the experience in his book Ruthless: A Memoir saying,
“…As it turned out, we had a pretty okay time. We ate poached salmon and roast beef. (Eazy E) sat next to a woman from Dallas, who I would bet had never mixed socially with a person of color before in her long and well-heeled life. I expected her to start talking about ‘the problem of the Negro.’ I think she was actually afraid to look at the short African-American next to her, so she didn’t notice that (Eazy E’s) eyes looked like a couple of all-black marbles. “Nobody’s been that stoned in the White House since Gerald Ford’s kid Jack smoked dope on the White House roof. And Eazy had better weed that Jack Ford ever did.“
Ice Cube’s dissed Eazy-E and N.W.A on his track “No Vaseline” where he repeats the phrase “I never had dinner with the President.”
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are the only group to work with 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Eazy-E, and Big Pun while all four were still alive. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony worked with Eazy-E on 1994’s “Foe Tha Love Of $,” with Big Pun on 1996’s”No Mercy,” with Tupac on 1997’s “Thug Love,” and with Biggie on 1997’s “Notorious Thugs.”
Eazy-E signed a pre-Fergie Black Eyed Peas to his record label, Ruthless Records in 1992. At the time they group went by the moniker “Atban Klann.” A.T.B.A.N Klann (A Tribe Beyond a Nation) which consisted of Will 1X (Will.I.Am), apl.de.ap, Mookie Mook, DJ Motiv8 (a.k.a. Monroe Walker), and Dante Santiago. Will 1X and apl.de.ap were first signed by Eazy-E when they were in high school after they caught the attention of Eazy-E manager Jerry Heller’s nephew. They made their debut on Eazy-E’s EP, 5150: Home 4 tha Sick on the record “Merry Muthaphuckkin’ Xmas”.
Atban Klann’s debut album Grass Roots was supposed to be released on October 6, 1994, but the album was shelved shortly before its release. The duo (Will 1X and apl.de.ap) would stay under Ruthless Records until they were dropped from the label after Eazy-E’s death in 1995.
will.i.am and apl.de.ap recruited Taboo and later on Fergie to form The Black Eyed Peas and release hits like “Where Is the Love?,” “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.”
