Eminem was inducted by his mentor Dr. Dre into the Rock Hall Of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles Saturday night (November 5). Dre gave a speech about his relationship with Em, whom he thanked for introducing “Hip Hop to middle America.”

“Over 20 years ago, Jimmy Iovine, who is also one of tonight’s inductees and one of my best friends, played a demo tape for me from a guy who called himself Eminem,” Dre recalled. “The first thing I said when I heard it was, ‘what the f— did he just say?’ I loved it so much that I couldn’t stop listening to it.

“A few days later, Jimmy called me and said, ‘you know he’s a White guy, right?” F—ed me up!” the Compton legend added. “Looking back, I don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind. He certainly didn’t sound like a Black rapper, especially because of what he was saying. I guess it was my ignorance at the time, thinking that if you’re a really good rapper, you must be Black.”

The duo went ahead to perform “My Name Is” and “Rap God” together.

Eminem explains how ‘Encore’ would’ve been a better album if it hadn’t leaked

Encore was Eminem’s fifth studio album

Eminem recently spoke with XXL on the magazine’s 25th anniversary where he explained how leaking affected the quality of his 2004 album Encore.

Em thinks that the 5× platinum album would’ve been at par with the critically-acclaimed 2002 album The Eminem Show if he didn’t have to rush into remaking parts of the project due to leaking online.

“Encore took a whole fuckin’ different trajectory because Encore was during my addiction,” he recalled. “I was realizing I’m getting addicted to these fuckin’ pills. I was just coming off The Eminem Show and the 8 Mile soundtrack and I started recording and had about seven or eight songs that were very much in the vein of what I do.”

He continued: “But we ended up putting them out as a fuckin’ bonus disc because the songs leaked. If those hadn’t leaked, Encore would’ve been a much different album.”

He added that it were songs like “We as Americans,” “Bully,” “Evil Deeds,” and “Love You More” that had seeped onto the internet before Encore was officially released.

On his track ‘’Zeus,’’ Shady responds to the Doggystyle artist rapping: “As far as squashing beef I’m used to people knocking me/But just not in my camp/And diplomatic as I’m tryin’ to be/Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me/Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me/Meh, not really (haha)/I had dog backwards.”
