Eminem sent Elton John and his lover two diamond cock rings to celebrate their civil union

In 2017 on The Graham Norton Show, Sir Elton John revealed the erotic gift Eminem, who Elton John has remained friends with since they both performed a duet of Stan at the 2001 Grammy Awards got for him.

After five years of friendship Eminem gifted Elton John with a pair of diamond-encrusted sex toys in celebration of Elton’s civil partnership to David Furnish. At the time in 2001, Eminem was slammed over so-called ‘homophobic lyrics’ and was picketed by The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) outside the Staples centre, where that year’s ceremony was taking place.

‘He was accused of being homophobic by so many people because of his lyrics, which I thought was nonsense. I came out and supported the fact that he isn’t [homophobic] and I appeared on the Grammys with him, doing “Stan,”‘ revealed the music icon. ‘We became friends. We’ve been amazing friends ever since.

He’s an amazing guy. I interviewed him last week for a magazine. ‘I just adore him… When David [Furnish] and I did our civil partnership, I got this package from Eminem. It shows you how homophobic he isn’t! It had two diamond-encrusted cock rings on velvet cushions. ‘I have to say, they have remained unused!’

“Instead of Dido. I was the one who took the ‘L’ out of Dido!” Elton John jokes.

    Eminem coined the term “Stan”

Eminem coined the term “Stan” when he released his single “Stan” featuring Dido on November 21, 2000. The single was about an obsessed fan who was/is in love with him. Since then “Stan” has been used to describe a super fan. The word “Stan” got so big and cemented that it was even added to the Oxford American Dictionary in 2017.

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary added the word “Stan” to its database on April 23, 2019 as both a noun (“an extremely or excessively enthusiastic and devoted fan”) and a verb (“to exhibit fandom to an extreme or excessive degree” or “to be an extremely devoted and enthusiastic fan of someone or something”).

The singer Dido who was featured on the song, ended up naming her first son Stanley.

Marshall Mathers—also known as—Eminem became the first rapper to win an Academy Award on the night of March 23rd, 2003, at the 75th annual Academy Awards. Eminem won the award for Best Original Song with Lose Yourself, the lead single from the soundtrack for his semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile.

Lose Yourself won Best Original Song over Elliot Goldenthal and Julie Taymor’s Burn It Blue from Frida, U2’s The Hands That Built America from Gangs of New York), Paul Simon’s Father and Daughter from The Wild Thornberry’s Movie, and John Kander and Fred Ebb’s I Move On from Chicago.

Eminem didn’t attend the award ceremony that night but co-writer Luis Resto accepted the award on behalf of Eminem and Jeff Bass.

In a Behind the Boards interview with SouthPawer, Eminem revealed why he didn’t attend the ceremony.

Actually, I was sleeping that night.. I just felt like I had no chance of winning because, you know, when I heard I was nominated, I thought that was for actors… I was not sure what exactly Grammy or Oscar meant, what a certain award meant, I was not sure what they meant, so even MTV awards, all that stuff, I just didn’t know what awards meant and this particular award…I didn’t go to the show… I just felt like I had a snowballs chance of…I think I got it confused when they said about Oscar. They were talking about the song but I was like ‘yea but isn’t there other movies that got rock songs and stuff like that? At that point, in my life I always thought like rap never gets as fair shake on anything. That was one of the reasons I didn’t go for the first Grammys I was invited to, because I pretty much protested it. I didn’t understand why there was a rap category and best album category and I couldn’t understand why rap album can not be in the best album category.

  • Eminem created his alter ego Slim Shady while sitting on the toilet

Eminem created his alter ego Slim Shady while sitting on the toilet

After being inspired by the failure of his debut album Infinite, Eminem thought of his infamous alter-ego “Slim Shady” while sitting on the toilet. Eminem’s toilet-born character inspired a new sound for him, it led to his debut EP, 1997’s The Slim Shady EP and his second album, 1999’s The Slim Shady LP which introduced the world to Eminem’s dark new alter ego.

After Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre got their hands on a copy of The Slim Shady EP—through an Interscope employee who attended the Rap Olympics that Eminem was battling at in Los Angeles—they signed Eminem to Aftermath Records and Interscope Records. Two years later, Eminem released his major label debut album The Slim Shady LP, executively produced by Dr. Dre and under Interscope Records. The Slim Shady LP‘s second single “My Name Is” catapulted Eminem to a wider nation audience and made him a superstar.

During a 2008 interview with Zane Lowe for BBC Radio 1, Eminem explained how he thought of his alter-ego “Slim Shady” on the toilet.

“This is not a lie, I was sitting on the toilet and a lot of good material came out of that… This name pops into my head. I was kind of skinny and I thought maybe it should be something slim. And then for some reason Slim Shady popped into my mind and I just thought of 20 things to rhyme with it.”

When Kanye West heard Eminem’s verse on “Forever” he went back and took two days to rewrite his

After hearing Eminem‘s verse on Drake‘s 2009 Boi-1da produced hit “Forever” Kanye West went back and took two days to rewrite his.

“When I heard Eminem’s verse on the Drake shit, I went back and rewrote my shit for two days, I cancelled appointments to rewrite! I f**kin’ care.” – Kanye West

Lil Wayne also rewrote his verse on “Forever” after hearing Eminem’s verse.

Eminem told Complex: “Everybody approached the beat different. Kanye was crazy, too, and Wayne. I just saw the beat differently than anybody else did; for some reason, I felt like the beat was a double-time beat, so I rapped faster.”

The song was released as a single from LeBron James’ documentary ‘More Than A Game’.

Eminem only allowed Kendrick Lamar in the studio while recording “Love Game” to make sure he didn’t have a ghostwriter

Rick Rubin told Ed Sheeran a story from the recording of Eminem & Kendrick Lamar’s “Love Game.”

    K. Dot had the honor of being the only rapper on Eminem’s 2013 album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, but he earned it by passing a test. To ensure Kendrick didn’t have a ghostwriter, Eminem only allowed Kendrick Lamar (who showed up with some friends) in the studio to write and record his feature for their song “Love Game” on the spot.

During an episode of the Zach Sang Show, Ed Sheeran relayed an interesting story about Eminem and Kendrick Lamar, which was told to him by Rick Rubin, executive producer of MMLPII. When Eminem was told that Kendrick Lamar was one of the best rappers out, he had suspicions that Kendrick had a ghostwriter.

“Eminem heard that Kendrick Lamar was the best rapper and he invited him to the studio to get him on a song,” Sheeran says

“He arrived and Kendrick came with all his mates and Eminem said, ‘I just want you in the studio, just you on your own and then my engineer is gonna come in and then record you doing it, but your mates aren’t allowed in.’ And then, Kendrick did it and wrote a sick verse. And then everyone came in to listen to it and Eminem said that he did it to test Kendrick because he thought he had a ghostwriter.. And, he then realized that he didn’t, and then claimed he was the best, which is kinda cool I think.”

While writing and recording his verse, Kendrick Lamar suspected what was happening. In 2014, he discussed the song’s recording process during a radio interview. “He brought me out to Detroit, I had a show, and he brought me to the studio to do a hook.. I go in, do the hook, and he’s like ‘I like the hook.’ Then I’m like, ‘Alright, cool, I’m finna dip,’ then he says ‘Think you could do a verse?’.. The thing with Em which was crazy to me is he kicks everybody out of the studio… I took it as him kicking everybody out to see if it’s really you writing them raps that you’re writing.”
