Dame Dash Recounts the Moment He Left Roc-A-Fella Over JAY-Z’s Relationship with R. Kelly

The mogul opens up about the personal reasons behind his fallout with Hov

Dame Dash has shared new details about the dispute that ultimately led to his departure from Roc-A-Fella Records and the dissolution of his business partnership with JAY-Z. In a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, Dash explained how his decision to leave the label was sparked by JAY-Z’s continued collaboration with R. Kelly, whose infamous marriage to Dash’s ex-girlfriend Aaliyah when she was just 15 deeply troubled him.

“The fact that Jay was working with him is what used to blow my mind more than anything,” Dash said, reflecting on his feelings at the time. “I don’t know why he wanted to work with this guy so much. Like, why? I’ve never understood it.”

Dash revealed that he confronted JAY-Z directly about the situation. “Everybody knew R. Kelly married Aaliyah at 15. So was the conversation had like, ‘Yo, how you gonna go and do something with this dude?’ Hell yeah that conversation was had!” Dash emphasized that it wasn’t just business—it was deeply personal.

He added, “I was like, ‘Yo, how you gonna do a project with someone who was involved in that situation?’” Dash made it clear that the situation made it impossible for him to continue with Roc-A-Fella. “That alone was the nail in the coffin for me. I was outta there, I was gone. I knew that shit was gonna blow up. I wanted no parts of that shit.”

The fallout between Dash and JAY-Z intensified when Dash learned that JAY-Z continued to work with R. Kelly on the Best of Both Worlds album shortly after Aaliyah’s tragic death in 2001. Dash expressed that he found this even more disrespectful, given the rapper’s rumored romantic feelings for Aaliyah.

Dash was unequivocal about the end of his relationship with JAY-Z, stating, “It wasn’t that I got kicked out of Roc-A-Fella; I left Roc-A-Fella. I was done. I said, ‘Forget all the money, forget all this stuff, I’m out.’ I was left no choice.”

The tension between Dash and JAY-Z has recently resurfaced in the public eye following the sale of Dash’s shares in Roc-A-Fella, Inc., reigniting interest in their fractured relationship.

JAY-Z Faces Escalating Legal Battle as New Suit Targets Roc Nation and Law Firm

Hov’s Roc Nation and legal team face a lawsuit accusing them of misconduct, including bribing clients to file frivolous lawsuits

Jay-Z is dealing with numerous litigation issues since someone has recently sued his company, Roc Nation, and his legal team at Quinn Emanuel for misconduct. Filed last Friday (January 3) in Harris County District Court, the lawsuit accuses the two of partaking in unethical practices, including the latter offering former clients of the attorney Tony Buzbee as much as $10,000 for filing frivolous lawsuits against him.

Buzbee is the counsel for the anonymous woman accusing JAY-Z and Diddy of sexual assault at a 2000 Video Music Awards after-party. Thus, his former client, Jose Maldonado, has since filed this new suit claiming that Buzbee’s reputation has been intentionally damaged by illegal actions.

So, the current case is the latest installment in the JAY-Z, his lawyers, and Buzbee legal wranglings. It comes with others, including an extortion case JAY filed against Buzbee in November, and further cases in Harris County against Roc Nation and Quinn Emanuel regarding the same claims of misconduct.

A spokesperson from Roc Nation said otherwise: “Instead of focusing on evil committed by former clients through lawsuits, Tony Buzbee intends to create distractions- nonsensical lawsuits… The lies that are laid on this court will not hold up.”

Legal battles are on for both sides without any end in sight.

JAY-Z Seeks Dismissal of Rape Lawsuit, Cites Inconsistencies in Accuser’s Story

Hov is seeking the dismissal of a rape lawsuit, citing inconsistencies in the accuser’s story and alleged misconduct by her lawyer

JAY-Z has come back to court to seek the dismissal of the rape lawsuit filed against him, claiming inconsistencies against him in the accuser’s story along with alleged unprofessional conduct by her lawyer, TMZ reported.

In the latest filings submitted on January 8th, attorney Alex Spiro said, Such accounts by a woman are significantly inaccurate. In the lawsuit, he alleged that JAY-Z raped the plaintiff while she was just 13 years old in the year 2000 during an after-party for Diddy. But in an exciting twist, Spiro produced evidence being photographic evidence that says that JAY-Z was at another affair that particular night. This casts doubt on one’s timeline.

He has also pointed out many contradictions and various alterations in the woman’s story, such as her father’s inability to remember picking her up after what she claims was an event and her assertion that she spoke with Benji Madden of Good Charlotte, who was in Chicago then for a concert.

Spiro blasted the accuser’s attorney Tony Buzbee for not adequately vetting the allegations before initiating the lawsuit and demanded Buzbee to be disciplined for the way he handled the case, which claims were just not credible on their face.

Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda React to Lawsuit Against JAY-Z, Label Allegations as Extortion

Tony Yayo doesn’t seem to be holding back when it comes to the anonymous lawsuit against JAY-Z, accusing the rapper of reportedly raping a 13-year-old girl. Yayo recently spoke to TMZ along with Uncle Murda, wherein he discussed the lawsuit claiming that JAY-Z and Diddy drugged and raped an underage girl during an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in the year 2000.

Yayo responded, “For somebody to extort you, send you a letter, and then you gotta send your lawyers, sounds like extortion to me.”

As for Uncle Murda, he had his theory adding, “I think Diddy paid somebody to say that shit about Jay to get the heat off himself ’cause Diddy looking bad out here. I think he trying to get the heat on Jay.”

JAY-Z went ahead and issued a rare, public statement over social media about the issue, calling it “blackmail”. He challenged the reasons behind the allegations to file a criminal complaint, saying, “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! 50 Cent Addresses Rivalries with JAY-Z and Diddy Amid Legal Issues

50 Cent has been making quite the buzz by posting some not-so-candid comments on the legal entanglements that both JAY-Z and Diddy are entangled in. Even with the taunting he indulges in, the rapper maintains that he doesn’t really have anything personal against both hip-hop moguls.

Recently, JAY-Z is named in a suit charging him and Diddy with raping a 13-year-old girl, even though he is not formally facing any criminal charges at the moment; at this moment, both deny the claims.

In a recent interview with Big Boy, 50 Cent acknowledged that those social media comments shouldn’t be construed as personal hatred. “I mean, I wouldn’t call it personal hatred. I see my issues with Diddy as arising from things he did that made me uncomfortable; that said, we never had any physical confrontation, and oh, as for JAY-Z, there is really no beef on that level. I would just call whatever he and I have competition.”

Amidst this, 50 went on to comment on JAY-Z’s statement regarding rape allegations, especially the effects the lawsuit has caused on his family.

NFL Stands by JAY-Z Amid Sexual Assault Lawsuit, Says Roger Goodell

JAY-Z’s connection with the NFL is still very much alive despite the recent sexual assault lawsuit against the hip-hop millionaire, according to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Speaking after the league’s winter meetings Wednesday (December 11), Goodell confirmed that JAY-Z and his company Roc Nation would remain tasked with the Super Bowl halftime show and have been leading the NFL’s social justice initiatives.

“We’re aware of the civil allegations and JAY-Z’s really strong response to that,” Goodell stated. “We know the litigation is happening now, so from our standpoint, our relationship is not changing with them, including our preparations for the next Super Bowl.”

He also praised the contributions of Roc Nation and said these contributions go far beyond the Super Bowl. “I think they’re getting incredibly comfortable with not just the Super Bowl but other events they’ve advised us on and helped us with,” he added. “They’ve been a big help in the social justice area to us on many occasions. They’ve been great partners.”

Therefore, while the legal battle still continues, the NFL remains positive to continue with JAY-Z, clearly opening up the promise of such collaboration on-field and off-field.
