Tyler, The Creator Could Be a Surprise Guest at Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

Is Tyler marching to the stage for a special performance with Kendrick?

Fans are buzzing about a potential surprise guest during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show, and many believe it could be none other than Tyler, The Creator. A promo video released on January 23 has sparked speculation, with eagle-eyed viewers picking up on several clues that suggest a possible collaboration between the two artists.

The 30-second trailer features a group of marchers in a military-style formation, which some believe references Tyler’s recent album Chromakopia. Tyler further fueled the rumors by commenting a cryptic zombie emoji on Kendrick’s Instagram post, which some fans linked to the marchers in the clip.

Adding to the mystery, the promo includes a brief snippet of Kendrick’s track “Hey Now,” which was recently remixed by Tyler. Given Tyler’s history of unexpected appearances, like his surprise performance at Kendrick’s Pop Out concert last summer, the possibility of a Super Bowl cameo is stirring excitement.

While Kendrick has yet to address the rumors, fans are hopeful, with one noting, “I’m 98% sure Tyler will be there.” Kendrick has confirmed one guest—SZA—will join him, but could Tyler join the lineup too? Fans will have to wait until February 9 to find out.

Eminem Predicts Kendrick Lamar Will Sweep the Grammys

Slim Shady tips K.Dot for Grammy dominance

Eminem is up against Kendrick Lamar in various categories at the upcoming Grammy Awards – but the Detroit legend believes K.Dot will sweep them all.

Em and his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, chopped it up with DJ Whoo Kid on Shade 45 for the Sirius XM channel’s 20th anniversary on Christmas Eve (December 24), and the topic of the award show came up.

“I mean, it’s very stiff competition,” Em said happily. “Kendrick’s gonna sweep that shit. He’s going to and he should.”

Kendrick received seven nominations at the show on February 2, and he will face Em in two of his three nominations for Best Music Video and Best Rap Performance.

A long-time supporter of Kendrick Lamar, Eminem previously praised K. Dot before they hit the stage together at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show in 2022.

When asked by Sway Calloway if he agrees that Kendrick is “the most electrifying vocalist of this generation,” Em replied, “I absolutely would agree. Kendrick is at the very top, top tier of lyricists — not just of this generation, but of all time.”

  • Drake Withdraws Legal Action Against Universal Music Group and Spotify Over ‘Not Like Us’ Scheme Allegations

Drake Withdraws Legal Action Against Universal Music Group and Spotify Over ‘Not Like Us’ Scheme Allegations

Drizzy drops the petition after ongoing legal drama surrounding Kendrick Lamar’s diss track

Surprisingly, Drake officially withdrew legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG) and Spotify. The Toronto rapper and his company, Frozen Moments, filed paperwork on January 14, 2025, informing the New York court that they were no longer pursuing the legal battle, which sought information for a potential future lawsuit over the alleged artificial inflation of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, Not Like Us.

The legal documents, viewed by HipHopDX, revealed that Drake met with UMG and Spotify representatives on the same day the filing was made, and both companies expressed no objection to the withdrawal. While Spotify responded affirmatively, UMG “reserved its position,” meaning they did not give a direct response to the withdrawal. The action was terminated without any costs to either party.

This development follows Drake’s initial accusations last November, in which he alleged that UMG, the parent company of both his and Kendrick Lamar’s record labels, used illegal streaming bots and payola tactics to artificially boost Not Like Us’s popularity. Drake claimed these tactics were intended to undermine his brand and favor Kendrick’s chart-topping diss track.

While the petition was not a formal lawsuit, but rather a pre-action filing to explore the viability of a potential lawsuit, the music giants have strongly denied any wrongdoing. UMG responded to the claims by asserting that it employs only ethical practices in its marketing and promotional campaigns. Spotify echoed this sentiment, claiming no illicit arrangements or deceptive practices were involved in the promotion of the track.

Despite withdrawing the petition, another similar case is still active. Drake has also filed a petition against UMG and iHeartMedia in Texas, raising similar payola allegations concerning Not Like Us. A court hearing for that case is scheduled for January 28, 2025, unless there is a settlement or withdrawal before then.

Drake has not publicly addressed his decision to withdraw the petition against UMG and Spotify, and Kendrick Lamar has not commented on the ongoing legal disputes.

Drake Sues Universal Music Group Over Defamation, UMG Responds Forcefully

UMG Denies Claims and Defends Actions in Drake’s Legal Action Against Label

Drake has filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) after the release of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.” Per HipHopDX, Drake accuses UMG in his legal complaint of knowing the song’s allegations were false but choosing to release and promote the track anyway, prioritizing “corporate greed” over artist safety. Drake claims the song damaged his reputation and led to real-life violence, citing a shooting at his home and multiple trespassing incidents. He also alleges that UMG artificially boosted the song’s popularity using bots and payola, attempting to weaken his brand for financial gain.

In response, UMG denied the claims, calling them “untrue” and “illogical,” defending their actions in distributing the track and rejecting any allegations of defamation. The company emphasized its long-standing support of Drake and criticized his use of the legal system to target creative expression. Drake has stated that his lawsuit is not directed at Kendrick Lamar but at UMG for publishing and promoting the song’s false and harmful allegations. The legal battle continues, with a separate case against UMG and iHeartMedia in Texas scheduled for a court hearing on January 28.

Meek Mill Reflects on Past Beef with Drake Amid Legal Battle with Kendrick Lamar

‘I’m a champ, I lost many things, I learn from them and move on’ — Meek Mill on Drake’s Legal Feud

Meek Mill has shared his thoughts on Drake’s recent defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group, reflecting on his own infamous 2015 beef with the rapper. The legal action, which stems from Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” has drawn parallels to the feud between Meek and Drizzy, which ignited when Meek accused the Toronto artist of using ghostwriters.

In a post responding to a comment from battle rapper Arsonal Da Rebel, Meek did not address Drake’s lawsuit directly but offered insight into his experience following their highly publicized rivalry. Meek recalled how his label at the time had advised against releasing new music, but he defied them by dropping his DC4 mixtape, which sold 90,000 copies in its first week. Despite facing challenges with playlist placements, Meek was determined to push through, recognizing the importance of influence in the music industry.

“I’m a champ. I lost many things, I learn from them and move on,” Meek wrote, also sharing his aspirations for 2025. “I’m going to make $100M off rap because I was in a system so long. It’s time to break that jawn.”

Daylyt Reveals J. Cole’s Reflection and Retraction After Kendrick Lamar Diss

The rapper’s decision to retract the diss came after a candid conversation with Daylyt about his friendship with K-Dot

Daylyt recently opened up about a conversation he had with J. Cole following the release of Cole’s diss track “7 Minute Drill,” aimed at Kendrick Lamar. The track, which garnered significant attention due to its direct nature, was later deleted by J. Cole, with the rapper issuing an apology to Kendrick.

In a live stream with TDE affiliate Mackwop, Daylyt shared insights into the conversation he had with J. Cole after the diss track’s release. According to Daylyt, Cole admitted that the track didn’t sit well with him, and he didn’t want the situation to escalate further.

“He was telling me personally, ‘It ain’t sitting right with me. Me and Dot cool, we way cool outside of this music,’” Daylyt explained. “It’s like slap boxing – we slap box and you hit me too hard and when the fits start flying, it’s a fade. So that’s kind of how he looked at it.”

Daylyt further described how J. Cole reflected on his actions, saying, “I just feel like I shouldn’t have jumped out there like that. All he said was, ‘Big three is just me.’ I ain’t have to do a whole song. I could have just kind of been a little subliminal right back.”

Cole, recognizing the potential consequences of the track, decided to pull it from streaming platforms and apologized to Kendrick. Daylyt admitted that he was surprised by how quickly Cole made the decision, but praised him for being true to himself.

“It ain’t like he was scared to rap,” Daylyt clarified. “But the next day [he retracted it]. I ain’t think he was gonna take it to the stage like that, though. [But I commend him] for that.”

    J. Cole recently touched on the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake in his surprise release “Port Antonio,” where he explained his decision to step back from a full-blown battle. In the song, Cole expressed his desire to avoid escalating the situation and potentially damaging his friendship with Kendrick: “I pulled the plug because I seen where that was ’bout to go / They wanted blood, they wanted clicks to make they pockets grow.”

The entire situation highlights the respect and understanding that exists between these rap giants, as J. Cole chose to preserve his friendship with Kendrick over engaging in a heated battle.
