    DJ Drama says Lil Uzi Vert recording ‘The Pink Tape’ under complete sobriety was ‘something different’

    Dram is ‘proud’ of Uzi for being able to approach new album under zero influence

    It has previously been reported that Lil Uzi Vert recorded his forthcoming album, The Pink Tape, while completely sober. In a recent interview with XXL for the publication’s spring issue, Uzi’s label head DJ Drama explained that Uzi’s decision is an act of maturity.

    “We did have some conversations about that. Me, [Don] Cannon, Lake and Vert, about that personal journey,” Dram expounded. “Obviously, it’s not something outta respect for him I would want to share the insight on how he feels or what it was like for him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something that he touches on on the project.”

    He continued, “I’m super proud of him and I’m sure that for him, being able to approach the music from that aspect was eye-opening and something different, something that a mature Uzi, who’s at a different stage in his life and his career, is able to accomplish.”

    Uzi is now free from “Strawberry Peels” suit

    Lil Uzi Vert and Atlantic Records have reportedly settled the lawsuit filed by Sun City Publishing over uncleared “Strawberry Peels” sample, per HipHopDx. The song allegedly sampled Blackout’s 1995 track “Dim Da Lights” which is owned by Sun City. Both sides allegedly mutually agreed to settle the suit outside the court although the nature of the agreement hasn’t been revealed.

    An order was issued stating that both sides “have reached an agreement in principle for the resolution of this action, in its entirety, and that they anticipate filing within thirty days their Stipulation to the dismissal of this action.”

    Earlier this year, the suit was set to be taken to the federal court, but now Uzi is off the hook.

    Lil Uzi Vert hints at The Pink Tape World Tour. A pic of the Philly rapper recently surfaced on social media of him rocking the tour’s merchandise t-shirt that reads: The Pink Tape World Tour.

    Back in October, Uzi also teased a 20-date tour across the US that was presumed to begin in March.

    Uzi is still preparing to unleash his next full length project The Pink Tape later this year. In a recent interview on Justin Credible podcast, DJ Drama confirmed that the project is in the final stages and is expected to see the light of the day sooner than later.

    DJ Drama continues to hype up Lil Uzi Vert’s upcoming project The Pink Tape. During a recent chit-chat on the Justin Credible podcast, Dram promised that Uzi and Nick Cannon have their sleeves rolled up for the album and that it’s in the final stages.

    “It’s on the way,” Dram declared. “The Pink Tape — him and Cannon have been super hard at work. They’re in the process of pretty much finalizing the final sequencing and tracklisting of the project but it’s pretty much done.

    “You’ll be surprised,” he continued, “you’re gonna get some of that as well as some other pockets.”

    Drake finally premieres his collab with Lil Uzi Vert titled “At The Gates (All Painted).” The record was debuted on Sound 42’s Fry Yiy Show on Ovo Radio late Friday night (April 7).

    Per HipHop-N-More, a snippet of the record first surfaced over a year ago and it was thought to be part of Uzi’s upcoming project, The Pink Tape.

    The song was previewed less than a day since Drake dropped off his latest single, “Search and Rescue,” which he had previewed just days before it dropped.

    Drake headlined the second night of J. Cole’s Dreamville Fest on Sunday (April 2). During his set, the Toronto megastar invited a couple of his buddies to perform in front of the sold out audience in Raleigh, North Carolina.

    Lil Uzi Vert set the stage on fire at Jimmy Fallon’s show on Monday (March 27) with his hit “Just Wanna Rock,” but on the same day, one of his bodyguards was busted for claiming he was an officer.

    Per The New York Post, Kevin Nelson was reportedly travelling in the passenger’s seat of a Ford F 450 on New York’s 100 Barclays Street when NYPD stopped him. Police say Kevin told the officers that he was a fellow cop but they confirmed that was not true. Kevin was found with an illegal firearm after a search was conducted.

    He is being charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a loaded semi-automatic, and criminal impersonation.

    Lil Uzi Vert adds more platinum plaques to his collection thanks to his viral hit “Just Wanna Rock.” This week, the thrilling record was certified double platinum by RIAA. The track was released in the last quarter of last year.

    Over the weekend, the Philly native performed the song on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show.

    Uzi is getting ready to share his highly-anticipated project, The Pink Tape, slated for this year’s release. The project will follow up the rapper’s 2020 solo album Eternal Atake, and his joint project with Future, Pluto and Baby Pluto.
