    Lil Uzi Vert backs up his 2016 revelation about the background story about his stage name in an interview with VIBE that “some guy” gave him the name Uzi. “Some guy was just like ‘you rap fast, man,” the Eternal Atake rapper explained. “Like a little machine gun’ and from that moment I was Lil Uzi.”


    During a recent live stream with Mr. Beast, M0e TV, and Devin Nash though, Uzi specifically says that “some guy” was actually a “crackhead.”

    “I got named by a crackhead,” the rapper said. “He said you rapped fast?” one of the streamers asked, before Uzi replied, “Yeah, yeah he’s a good guy.”

    Lil Uzi Vert is taking his time to perfect the body of work

    Lil Uzi Vert reveals that his mixtape, The Pink Tape, will not arrive this month as it was expected. On Friday (October 22), a clip circulated on social media where Uzi is asked by a fan if the project will be released this week. 

    “No, it’s not,” Uzi answered. “Then it drops next week and then I gotta hear it from, well, not from you but from 100,000 people on the internet saying, ‘It sucks!’ So you gotta let me take my time! I’m taking my time so it won’t suck,” he added.

    As the fan tried to convince the “Baby Pluto” rapper that the project would still be great if it dropped this week, Uzi playfully replied, “don’t ever trust a person like me, cause I’m so slimey.”

    “When is the next project coming?” A man inquired from Uzi who replied, “probably like three weeks, before the Halloween come out.” The man went on to ask, “is it Luv Vs Uzi 3?” The Philly rapper then confirmed, “it’s The Pink Tape.”

    Uzi announced the title of the upcoming project during the summer. In August, the 26-year-old rapper attended the blue carpet for the 18th-anniversary celebration of Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club, where he told HipHopDx that the mixtape was going through the mixing stage. 

    “Well, it’s going through its mixing process right now,” Uzi said. “Because last time I dropped an album, it did really well. It was actually my highest-selling album, but it was experimental on the mixing part, not the actual music, so this time I went experimental with the music and traditional on the mixing.”

    Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti have proved to be a perfect duo thanks to their previous memorable collaborations. The good news is that there is still hope of getting a collab project from the two. 

    On Monday (August 23), Uzi hinted that 16*29, the long-awaited joint tape with Carti, is on the way. “16*29 ? xxxxxxx,” Uzi tweeted.

    To provide assurance to any doubters, the “Chrome Heart Tags” rapper asked fans to confirm with Carti. “Bro just ask carti ? ?,” he wrote in a separate tweet. 

    The joint effort was first teased in September 2017 when Carti posted a pic of Captain Sensible and Dave Vanian of ‘70s London punk stalwarts The Damned with the caption, “Carti Uzi Tape * Uzi Carti Tape * 16.29.”

    The title is inspired by the respective neighborhoods the two artists come from. Uzi is from the 1600 block in Philly and Carti is from the 2900 block in Atlanta.

    Isaiah Rashad continues to roll out music videos from his latest album, The House Is Burning. On Wednesday (August 11), the Tennessee rapper shared the official visuals for the Lil Uzi Vert-assisted “From the Garden.” 

    The video is directed and edited by Orman Jones, the video is an almost even combination of color and black & white shots, with the latter mostly apparent during Uzi’s verse.

    Isaiah unleashed his sophomore studio album The House Is Burning on July 30, which turns out to be his first Top 10 album. The project debuted at number 7 on Billboard 200, selling 41 000 album-equivalent units in its first week of release. These numbers are a result of the 49.89 million streams (36 000 SEA units) the project received and the 5 000 pure copies that were sold.

    The 16-track effort featured Lil Uzi Vert, Jay Rock, SZA, 6LACK, Duke Deuce, and Smino.

Trippie hopped on Twitter and Instagram Wednesday (July 7) to announce and preview the tnfdemon & sserotonin-produced collab as well as promising to soon share the tracklist for his fifth studio album, Trip At Knight.

    The Ohio rapper confirmed last month that the album will drop before his tour begins. The Trip At Knight tour will commence on August 25 and end on October 6. He will bring SoFaygo and Iann Dior on the tour.
