    Rae Sremmurd & Gucci Mane’s ‘Black Beatles’ closes in towards diamond certification

    Rae Sremmurd & Gucci earn new RIAA certification

    Rae Sremmurd’s chartbuster “Black Beatles” featuring Gucci Mane has now been certified 9x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), meaning it has sold 9m units across the US. The record is only a million units away from earning the diamond certification.

    “Whole world froze !!! This is crazy 🏆 love yall 5L,” Swae Lee, one half of the Rae Sremmurd, wrote on X in response to the news.

    The duo, made up of Swae and his brother Slim Jxmmie, dropped the track in 2016 as the second single from their sophomore studio album, SremmLife 2. With production from Mike Will Made-It, the joint was released under EarDrummers & Interscope.

    Post Malone and Swae Lee’s blockbuster record “Sunflower” is now the first single ever to earn 2× diamond certification from RIAA after selling 20m units in the US.

    Produced by Carter Lang and Louis Bell, the track dropped in October 2018 as a single from the soundtrack of the animated film, Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse. The record later appeared on Posty’s 2019 album, Hollywood’s Bleeding.

    It debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later peaked at No. 1. It remained in the Top 10 for 33 weeks.

    Swae and his entourage get into a brawl with Coachella security

    Swae Lee was set to perform at Coachella but while trying to enter the venue with his entourage and newborn baby, the half of Rae Sremmurd got into a vicious fight with security. According to a video shared by TMZ on Tuesday (April 25), Swae and his team got into a brawl with security at the Coachella entrance, but Swae and his infant baby were unharmed.

    The rapper’s team issued a statement stating: “As Swae Lee attempted to enter the festival with his newborn son and working crew, overzealous security guards confronted them. As 1/2 of Rae Sremmurd, he was due to perform on Coachella’s Outdoor Theatre stage at 5:55 PM. Security claimed not to recognize the talent and then aggressively initiated contact as they attempted to make their way to the stage.”

    They added, “The security guards, which we presume are independent contractors, are seen clearly being the aggressors and then throwing gang signs at end of the video in a celebration.”

    Rae Sremmurds are dropping ‘Sremm 4 Life’ album in April

    Sremms are officially back this summer

    Rae Sremmurds are returning with their new album Sremm 4 Life this summer. The duo took to their social pages announcing that the project will arrive on April 7. Serving as their fourth studio album, it will be execute-produced by Mike Will Made-It and the group itself. Made up of Swae Lee and his brother Slim Jxmmi, the Mississippi pair also have a new song and video out, “Tanisha (Pump That),” released on Friday (March 10).

    Just like all their previous albums, the forthcoming release will drop through EarDrummers and Interscope. After a long hiatus, the Sremmurds returned onto the scene mid-last year with the single “Denial,” later following up with tracks like “Community D*ck,” with Flo Milli, “Torpedo,” and “Sucka Or Sum.”

    Metro Boomin to contribute new music on ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ movie

    It’s Young Metro season

    Metro Boomin teased a collaboration with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movie this week when he shared a picture of himself in a black Spider-Man suit on Instagram. According to HipHopDx, following the release of the official trailer on Tuesday (December 13), co-writers and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller confirmed during a YouTube Premium after-party that Metro will be making the theme song of the forthcoming movie that arrives June 2, 2023.

    The first installment of the film, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, was released in 2018 with Swae Lee & Post Malone’s “Sunflower” as the theme song. The record went diamond in 2021 and became the most certified song in RIAA history in November this year after going 17x platinum.

    The beat for French Montana and Swae Lee‘s summertime smash ‘Unforgettable’ was originally made for Drake.

    During an episode of Genius’ beat deconstructed, the song’s co-producer Mac Sutphin of 1Mind revealed that the beat was made for Drake’s 2016 album ‘Views’, but after he passed on it, the beat was sent to French Montana and Swae Lee.

    Unforgettable was produced by 1Mind (Sebastian Lopez, Mac Sutphin, and Michael Lohmeier),  Jaegen and CP DUBB. The song was the lead single off French Montana’s sophomore album Jungle Rules. Unforgettable peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

    Swae Lee finally tells us what “Someone Said”

    Swae Lee has released his new song titled “Someone Said”, inspired by his vocals on 2018’s ‘Sicko Mode’ off Travis Scott’s ‘Astroworld’ album. Swae Lee tweeted he’ll make a song inspired by the adlibs back in 2018. The song was produced by Shawn Ferrari.

    “I got it straight out of my system/ Go get that hate out your system/Yeah, I cut you off like a scissor, quicker/Breaststroke, baby, I’m a good swimmer (Phelps)/Playin’ with the gang, you no member (Gang, gang)” Swae Lee says as he floats on the song. Listen to “Someone Said” below.
