Young Thug Jokes About Quitting Rap for Streaming: ‘I’m Done Rapping’

Atlanta rapper teases retirement on Adin Ross stream, stays tight-lipped on new album ‘Uy Scuti’

Young Thug may be considering a major career pivot — or at least joking about one. During a recent appearance on Adin Ross’ Kick livestream, the Atlanta rap icon was stunned to learn just how much money top streamers are making, and playfully suggested he might hang up the mic for good.

“I’ma stop doing music and start streaming,” Thugger told Ross. “I think I’m gonna stop. I’m telling ya, I’m done rapping and gonna start streaming.”

Thug admired the streamer lifestyle, adding, “Y’all live a cool life. Y’all go everywhere every day. Y’all got cats wondering around this bitch. Y’all got all types of crazy stuff.”

While clearly said in jest, the moment went viral — but fans hoping for more info on Thug’s upcoming album Uy Scuti were left hanging. Ross pressed him for a release date, but the rapper remained silent.

Still, the rollout for Uy Scuti has been anything but quiet. Media members have received cryptic promo packages containing live spiders and the message: “Take care of me until we reach UY SCUTI.”

Though no official date is set, the album is expected to drop sometime this month.

21 wants people to move on

21 Savage has had enough of people making jokes of “Rich Flex,” a collab with Drake from their joint album Her Loss. During a recent stream with Adin Ross, the rapper was asked about the track and he simply told them to knock it off.

“Savage, be honest: did you ever get tired of hearing, ‘21, can you do something for me?’” the fan asked.

“I got tired of people saying that to me, yes,” 21 responded. “‘Cause, how many times y’all gon’ say the shit?”

Back in 2022, Drizzy held a Q&A on online casino Stake where he addressed the “Rich Flex” memes.

“I understand after all these years that, I feel like I have a polarizing presence,” Drizzy said. “I’m almost a character in people’s movies and therefore there’s a running a dialogue. There’s jokes, you’re either the villain to some people or hero to some people.”

He continued, “It is what it is, it just comes with the territory. As you grow and [achieve] success, you also grow and split opinion and you grow in all different ways.

“But ultimately, I’ve just found a way. I’ve always been able to laugh at myself, but I really do feel now that I mentally am able to separate the two.”

Adin Ross is planning to get Lil Durk and NBA Youngboy to burry the hatchet, and he wants it happening on his live stream. During one of his recent streams, Adin revealed his strategy of inviting the two rap nemesis on his stream so that they can end their feud.

“I wanna get Lil Durk and Youngboy on my stream. Yeah at the same time. And I really wanna do this cause I think it would show we could put it aside,” Adin said.

“I wanna bring Youngboy and Lil Durk together and talk out their differences like men,” he said, before clarifying that the two MCs “are both men.” He continued, “It might be fun. You never know.”
