Lil Yachty seemingly reminisces writing for City Girls on new single ‘A Cold Sunday’

Yachty is proud to have written for fellow QC female group

Lil Yachty delivered his latest single, “A Cold Sunday,” on Friday (February 2) and it has been causing a lot of buzz because of Yachty’s prowess. On one line, the Concrete Boy spits: “She a City Girl, I’m the real reason that she ‘Act Up,’” which is likely a reference to Yachty’s writing credit on City Girls’ 2018 hit, “Act Up.”

During a 2020 Instagram Live stream, the Let’s Start Here rapper bragged about receiving a massive check for his work on the record despite online criticism.

“That was an eight-figure check, no cap, and it’s still coming!” Yachty boasted. “Seven, I’m sorry. Seven. Look, let me talk to whoever that civilian was on the last insert, whoever that nice civilian was. These n***as be so closed-minded, right? And these n***as ain’t never seen no real money, right?”

City Girls’ new album ‘RAW’ reportedly set to sell under 10K units

City Girls new album numbers don’t look so good

Atlanta duo City Girls unleashed their latest studio effort, RAW (Real A$$ Wh*res), at the end of last week, but if word on the street is to believed, they don’t have much to celebrate. According to reports, the project is on pace to sell 6-8K album-equivalent units.

The new release boasted features from the likes of Juicy J, Lil Durk, Usher among others. Production was handled by 30 Roc, Hitmaka, OG Park, and many more. It was released under Quality Control, Motown Records and Universal Music Group.

‘Rap sh!t’ new HBO show by Issa Rae and City Girls

Since “Insecure” ended, Issa Rae’s been working on a new show dripping on HBO Max. The project is called “Rap Sh!t” and was developed with Miami rap duo City Girls as co-executive producers. The story takes place in Miami and is similar to how JT and Young Miami connected.

According to Variety, “The series follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion). The two reunite to form a rap group, forming a new bond along the way. The series also stars Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell and RJ Cyler.” Rae wrote the pilot and collaborated with showrunner Syreeta Singleton on the finale. “Rap Sh!t” drops July 21.

The 21-year-old Atlanta rapper is bringing the heat in her City Girls-assisted “In N Out” video for one of the standout tracks featured on her latest project, Queen of Da Souf.

Mulatto has been having an explosive breakout year as a 2020 XXL Freshman and rising artist making huge strides for women in rap. Despite the controversy surrounding her namesake, she’s still considered one of the most promising young rappers in the game.

JT of City Girls Released From Prison, Announces New Music

JT of City Girls is finally free from prison.

On Tuesday afternoon, Yung Miami announced JT was officially out of prison after serving over a year behind bars via Instagram. To get the “homecoming” party started, JT will be releasing a new single titled “First Day Out”. The song will be expected to drop 10 p.m. ET tonight.
