    DJ Drama recently appeared on XXL’s latest issue where he discussed a number of topics, including which deceased rappers he would’ve loved to collaborated with on a Gangsta Grillz mixtape. He shared that he would’ve been excited to work with 2Pac, Biggie, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, as well as Nipsey Hussle on the second installment of Crenshaw.

    “S**t, f**king The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac,” Drama revealed. “I would’ve loved to have gone back in with Nipsey Hussle, did another Crenshaw. That would’ve been amazing. Imagine Crenshaw 2. Imagine a Tupac Gangsta Grillz. ODB.”

    Dram is ‘proud’ of Uzi for being able to approach new album under zero influence

    It has previously been reported that Lil Uzi Vert recorded his forthcoming album, The Pink Tape, while completely sober. In a recent interview with XXL for the publication’s spring issue, Uzi’s label head DJ Drama explained that Uzi’s decision is an act of maturity.

    “We did have some conversations about that. Me, [Don] Cannon, Lake and Vert, about that personal journey,” Dram expounded. “Obviously, it’s not something outta respect for him I would want to share the insight on how he feels or what it was like for him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something that he touches on on the project.”

    He continued, “I’m super proud of him and I’m sure that for him, being able to approach the music from that aspect was eye-opening and something different, something that a mature Uzi, who’s at a different stage in his life and his career, is able to accomplish.”

    Drama lays down a list of rappers he wants to work with

    DJ Drama has over the years released countless mixtapes with multiple rappers, and generational gap hasn’t been an obstacle when it comes to the range of artists he chooses to work with. Recently speaking to XXL for the outlet’s latest issue, Dram revealed a list of rappers he would like to with on a Gangsta Grillz mixtape.

    “I’ve had the conversation with Stove God [Cooks]. I would love to do a project with him. I think a GloRilla Gangsta Grillz would be fire. Maybe even like Ice Spice or maybe Lady London. So many dope females out there,” Drama explained. “Obviously, a lot of people have always wanted the EST Gee Gangsta Grillz. Don’t get me started, so many people. I mean, would love to do a Brent Faiyaz Gangsta Grillz. It is endless. I think that’s one thing that’s dope and potent about Gangsta Grillz. It’s a platform and cross-generational.”

    DJ Drama continues to hype up Lil Uzi Vert’s upcoming project The Pink Tape. During a recent chit-chat on the Justin Credible podcast, Dram promised that Uzi and Nick Cannon have their sleeves rolled up for the album and that it’s in the final stages.

    “It’s on the way,” Dram declared. “The Pink Tape — him and Cannon have been super hard at work. They’re in the process of pretty much finalizing the final sequencing and tracklisting of the project but it’s pretty much done.

    “You’ll be surprised,” he continued, “you’re gonna get some of that as well as some other pockets.”

    Dram recruits Jim Jones for his album trailer

    DJ Drama is dropping his new album I’m Really Like That this Friday (March 31), and now he comes through with the second trailer the forthcoming record. The renowned producer and DJ recruited Jim Jones for a recreation of a scene from 1991 film, Juice.

    Jim plays the role of 2Pac as Bishop while original actors Khalil Kain and Jermaine Hopkins are also starred as Raheem and Steel respectively.

    Dram’s forthcoming album will host guest appearances from the likes of Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, Offset, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, Jack Harlow, Freddie Gibbs and Doe Boy.

    As DJ Drama gears up to unleash his upcoming album, I’m Really Like That, the iconic DJ and producer sheds light on why he chose the tile. Speaking in a recent interview on Cigar Talk, Dram explained that he felt like sometimes people don’t give him enough credit for his contribution to the hip-hop culture.

    “It’s been times when I felt like I’ve been looked at like an underdog in some senses,” Dram began. “Like I’m not in a position to speak politically correct like, for what I’ve done for the culture, what I’ve given the people, for what I’ve given hip-hop.

    “Don’t ever question what I mean to hip-hop. How many classic mixtapes we’d not have if it wasn’t for DJ Drama, how many artists have I not introduced to the world? So yeah, I’m really like that. That was the most important title I could think of,” he added.

    Lil Wayne’s 2006 classic mixtape Dedication 2 is finally going to be available on digital streaming platforms. According DJ Drama, who’s been hosting the mixtape series, the project will be uploaded on streaming platforms this year and will include new music for fans to enjoy.

    “It wasn’t original music, so it couldn’t go on streaming platforms, and I just feel like today, in 2023, if we going to do it, let’s do it, and it might take a little bit of time and be done,” Dram recently told Rap Radar Podcast.

    He added, “We are dropping Dedication 2 on streaming platforms this year, and it’s gonna have some new music along with it. That’s pretty exciting.”

    Dram continues to apply the pressure

    DJ Drama is looking forward to keep his foot on the gas, as he is working on a new mixtape with hip-hop group De La Soul. Dram made the revelation during a recent sit-down with Rap Radar, but he didn’t provide further information except the existence of the project.

    “De La Soul’s coming to streaming. I can’t be more excited,” Dram said. “And we got a Gangsta Grillz coming! Little sidebar.”

    Drama has been busy. In the past year, he worked with the likes of Jeezy, Snoop Dogg, among others. He is also working on projects with Pusha T as well as Fivio Foreign.
