Ice Spice reveals she owns her masters & publishing

Spice’s management made sure she landed the best deal she could get

Ice Spice quickly rose to become a household name in the mainstream rap last year and obviously, she faced the tricky decision of picking the best record deal. The New York rapper appeared on Billboard’s cover this week where her manager, James Rosemond Jr., revealed that they had to make sure the deal the new superstar signed with 10K Projects and Capitol Records last fall played in her favor.

“You don’t wanna take just any deal,” Rosemond told the publication. “Deals came to her — production deals, 360 deals — but they were deals that I knew could be better, and in order to get a better deal, you have to go out and do it yourself.”

He added that they released Spice’s breakout hits “Munch” and “Bottom Bikini” independently and partnered with WorldStar Distro (a partnership between WorldStarHipHop and Create Music Group) for distribution.

“Now she owns her masters, she own her publishing, and not a lotta people who can say that,” he continued.
