  • Jeezy’s first rap name was Lil J

Jeezy’s first rap name was Lil J

Jeezy originally went by the moniker Lil J, then later, Young Jeezy.

Before Jay Wayne Jenkins was famously known as Jeezy, he originally went by the moniker Lil J, eventually, Young Jeezy then settled on Jeezy.

In 2001 Jeezy released his independent debut album, T.U.I.: Thuggin’ Under the Influence album under the rap name Lil‘ J.” Thuggin’ Under the Influence was released via Corporate Thugz Entertainment (aka CTE), an independent record label which was founded by Jeezy & his former manager Demetrius “Kinky B” Ellerbee.

By 2003 he had become known as Young Jeezy. On July 26, 2005, he released his major label debut album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 which became a hit and charted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 Charts.

  • Jeezy is “bridging the gap” with new talk show

Jeezy is “bridging the gap” with new talk show

Jeezy is moving forward with new ideas

As Jeezy brings in his 43rd birthday this week, the Atlanta rapper announces that he’s bringing in a new show: Worth a Conversation With Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins.

The show will air weekly, on Fox Soul at 10AM EST. The show will make its debut on October 14.

“It has been my passion and my drive to inspire, motivate and educate my culture. Every song I’ve ever written, every word I’ve uttered came from a real place and this is no different,” he tells Billboard. “I will talk about issues that directly affect my culture and its people. From the front-porch conversations to real life situations, Worth a Conversation is bridging the gap. I’m excited to be a part of the FOX Soul family and can’t wait to introduce you to Jay ‘Jeezy’ Jenkins.”

Jeezy aims to keep “forward thinking” as the mantra of the show’s brand, especially with the transition of everything going on in our world. It’s best to work through the changes as best as possible.

  • Jeezy goes back to his roots on his new album, “TM104”

Jeezy goes back to his roots on his new album, “TM104”

    TM104: Legend of the Snowman

Jeezy is finally ending his “Thug Motivation” album series. TM 104: Legend of the Snowman is the end of an era for the icon from South Carolina, as it is his last record with Def Jam and his record of the series that made him so big to begin with. On this record, Jeezy seems to really embrace his roots. Although there are a few newer style trap cuts as one would expect, a lot of the instrumentals on this record remind me a lot of his music from the mid 2000s. I love the minimalist melodies and low key beats that focus on Jeezy’s lyrical content and stories.

One of my favorite tracks on the record that takes this style is ‘Fake Love,’ which features a beautifully sung chorus from Queen Naija. On this track, Jeezy tells the story of quite a few of his friends that have been less than faithful to him when he has struggled, only liking him for his money. I really recommend this song!
