Directed by Gibson Hazard, the six-minute film co-starred Morgan Freeman and Lakeith Stanfield, as well as Young Thug & Gunna.

At first, Metro was asked how long it took him to create his latest album, to which he replied, “I say, two years and some change. In the moment, but looking back it kinda works. You know but in the moment it’s just continuous. Then I thought I’d drop it, then I be like ‘hold on, let’s push it back, let’s do this and let’s do this, then we push it back.’” He added, “Even the thing we shot with Morgan Freeman and Lakeith, we shot that like a year and a half ago.”

Big Rube wrote the script for ‘Savage Mode II’

It has been almost a week since Metro Boomin & and 21 Savage dropped their second installment of their 2016 mixtape Savage Mode. The project has generally been receiving positive reviews. It has even been projected to move around 195k units in the first week of its release.

Young Metro and 21 for sure did their best to make the album a solid body of work, with dark trap beats blended with 21 Savage’s vicious bars matched with ‘savage’ delivery. It is to be noted that Morgan Freeman’s narrations on the album’s trailer and on the skits have also played a part in making the album one of the hardest projects of 2020.

The legendary actor recently revealed how he ended up working with the two young stars. In an interview with GQ, Morgan said he was actually interested in getting out of the ‘nice guy’ zone and exploring some ‘bad guy’ energy. “What happens is you sort of get locked into a position,” Freeman told GQ. “Henry Fonda was in it, Spencer Tracy was in it, James Stewart was in it, even though he played a couple of bad guys. You don’t really don’t want to be cast into a mold, but after a few years, it’s bound to happen. Every [offer] that’s outside of what you consider [your] mold is fun to do. I got to jump at it.”

Morgan Freeman did admit that after reading the script, he felt there was some wisdom in it, and that the message resonated with him. “I read the copy and was like wow, there’s some wisdom in here,” said the ‘Voice of God’ before adding, “I think this is the way I think. It’s basically saying don’t suffer fools and when you want something go for that,”.

Metro Boomin later decided to share more details regarding the narrative script, revealing that it was written by Big Rube, a member of the legendary Atlanta music collective Dungeon Family.
