NBA Youngboy drops a new project on his birthday

Louisiana rapper NBA Youngboy celebrated his 23rd birthday on Friday (October 20) with a new DJ Drama-hosted mixtape, Ma’ I Got A Family (A Gangsta Grillz Special Edition), hosted by mixtape legend DJ Drama. It is the rapper’s 21st mixtape and was released through Never Broke Again, LLC, and Atlantic Records.

The project spawns 19 songs with only two features from Nicki Minaj and breakout artist Yeat. The title is a message to the multi-platinum rapper’s mother Sheronda Gaulden, letting her know he is raising a family. The cover art portrays YB and his fiancé Jazlyn Mychelle holding their two kids.

The new project is Youngboy’s sixth project of the year, and the second of the month since he dropped 3800 Degrees on October 7.

Nicki Minaj considers dropping her next album before the year ends

Award-winning rapper Nicki Minaj is looking to release her new album this year. During a conversation for Interview Magazine cover published on Monday (October 18), Barbie shared that the success of her chart-topping single, “Super Freaky Girl,” prompted her to unleash the follow up to 2018’s Queen before the year ends.

“I wasn’t sure how I was even feeling about having to put out an album this year, but that song happening and people liking it, that made me happy,” Nicki explained.

She continued, “People have gone through so much recently that they want to have fun. It’ll probably expedite the album to come out this year.”

Back in February, the 37-year-old revealed on The Dana Cortez Show that people should expect the “mixtape Nicki” on the long-awaited album. “I love giving that good energy to people and make them feel like, ‘Yo, I’m speaking for you.’ You gonna get hints of other things, of course, but yes, you’re going to get that Mixtape Nicki.”

Nicki Minaj joins the “Free Gunna” movement

Nicki Minaj recently sat for a chat with Jada Pinkett Smith for Interview Magazine where she opened up about a number of topics.

The mother of one explained that she has a unique approach towards music, one of the reasons why she rejected Gunna’s feature request. She was potentially talking about “P Power,” a song that ended up featuring Drake and appeared on Gunna’s album DS4EVER.

She also didn’t forget to call for the College Park native’s freedom. “I don’t think the new female rappers really understand who I am,” Barbie said.

“A lot of the girls that came before me, they really were those sexual beings, and I was so inspired by them,” she added. “But I’m not like that, I’m more the goofy girl. Even some of the new male rappers—I turned down a Gunna song because it was just moaning and groaning on the track, but Drake ended up doing it and it worked great for them. And free Gunna by the way, I have to make sure I say that.”

JT continued that she believes in studying people who came before her. “You have to study people, and you have to write that sh*t down.”

Media outlet The Neighborhood Talk shared the news on Instagram Wednesday (September 14) and Green slid in the comments section saying Nicki is sending goons to “threaten” her life.

“Actually Nicki doxxed me and is sending people to threaten my life. Maybe get the full story @TheNeighborhoodTalk before posting?”

Nicki peeped the comment and responded: “That’s another false allegation you just made. That, in addition to all the new lies you said with Sherell will probably cost you AND her more than you know. I thought she was a classy woman but she seemed to be justifying the filth. Allegedly. So now…welp…BYE MARLEY!!! BWAHAHAHAHA.”

Hitmaka says no one can copy Nicki’s flow

Nicki Minaj aroused a debate during her Thursday night (September 8) session on her Queen Radio when she said ghostwriters working for women are jacking her pen game.

“It’s because everybody that is a ghostwriter right now in Hip Hop that is writing for any female, not just the artist, but the ghostwriter is a Nicki fan, too,” she stated.

“Every ghostwriter that writes for women, before they write that muthafuckin’ verse, they think, ‘What would Nicki Minaj say?’ And if you disagree with that or dispute that, you’re fucking dumb.”

Producer Hitmaka slid on The Neighborhood Talk’s comments section of the post about Nicki disputing her remarks. “Disagree. She got her own flow can’t be duplicated I can’t name a girl who sound like Nick,” his comment read. “And I’ve worked with every girl.”

‘’I came out of writer’s block with ‘Seeing Green,’” she began. “Literally, yes. How that happened was I texted Drake one time and was like, ‘The label wants to put out Beam Me Up Scotty and I was like I can’t put out a mixtape and not give them something new.’ I was like, ‘Yo, what’s hot outside you think I should jump on?’
She added, explaining how the collab came about, “He texted me back to jump on this. I listened to the song and I was so out of it like, ‘Y’all put this out already?’ Him and Wayne was already on it. He was like, ‘No.’ I kept on trying to write to it and everything I was saying was just so stupid and bad.”
“Nobody knows what type of pressure that was,” the ‘’TROLLZ’’ rapper revealed. “I sent Drake like six different verses.”

‘’Seeing Green’’ was released on May 21 as part of her 2009 mixtape, Beam Me Up Scotty, that was uploaded on streaming platforms on that day. Recorded while Nicki was pregnant, the song was of the few unheard tracks to be added on the reissued version of the mixtape. It was an instant hit and debuted at No. 12 on Billboard Hot 100.
