Sole adult suspect in Pop Smoke’s murder case reportedly did not order his accomplices to shoot anyone

Legal defense of the only adult suspect in Pop Smoke’s killing wants murder charges dismissed

The 20-year-old and sole adult suspect in Pop Smoke’s murder case, Corey Walker, claims he didn’t tell his teenage accomplices to shoot anyone and wants murder charges dismissed. Walker’s lawyer, Christopher Darden, argues that the defendant even “assaulted” the 15-year-old suspect who was the shooter after the incident.

According to Rolling Stone, court documents from the Friday (October 15) hearing in Los Angeles show that Darden’s filing stated that his client “did not share the actual killer’s intent to kill” and had warned the other suspects from using the firearm which he was aware of, but instead use a vase if things went left.

“It is clear from the evidence that [Walker] did not enter the house, was not armed, and did not personally kill the victim. Moreover, the evidence is clear that the defendant did not share the actual killer’s intent to kill,” read the filing.

Darden’s motion further points out that the murder weapon in Pop Smoke’s killing did not belong to Walker.  “[Walker] was only aware of one weapon. There is nothing in the record to indicate this defendant knew that more than one weapon was going to be taken inside the house. And there is nothing to indicate that the weapon used in the killing was the heat this defendant provided to a suspect,” Darden wrote.

In an interview with Rolling Stone after the hearing on Friday, Darden revealed that there are ongoing negotiations with prosecutors. “We’re just beginning. We’re nowhere near close,” he said. “God willing, we will perhaps have a resolution soon. We all realize my client didn’t kill anybody.”

50 Cent is not sure if he will contribute to Pop Smoke’s next album

50 Cent promised to fulfill the late Pop Smoke’s dream of taking his mom to the Grammys, and he did it. He executive-produced Pop’s debut and first posthumous album, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, and it ended up being one of the biggest albums of last year.
50 Cent might not take part in finishing Pop’s next album. Recently speaking with Kris Kaylin, Fifty revealed that he is not sure if he will work on the upcoming album.

“Steven was originally Pop’s manager and the label person he was signed to,” he explained. “He spoke to me about the new record. I’m not sure if I’ll participate with that record. I just wanted to make sure that his record did what it was supposed to.”

He went on to say, “My interaction with Pop was that he was looking at me like I could tell him the right way to go and everything would work based on what I was saying. It’s unfortunate that it actually happened. It’s like the other side of it — when I’m coming up early on, I’m so connected to the environment that everything in the environment I’m subjected to the same.”

The New York legend also explained that Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon wouldn’t be as big if it weren’t for his involvement.

“So even with my success in music, I’m still subjected to everything the neighborhood is subjected to,” 50 said. “Cause of who I’m standing next to. In Pop’s scenario, personally, he told me he wanted to take his mom to an award show. Outside of producing the record and having it perform well, I did all the promotion for that record to have it work. They would have put it out and you’d have to find it out of basic interest.”

At the beginning of last month, Pop’s manager Rico Beats, took to Instagram to announce the late rapper’s next album is on the way.
“I see and hear everything kept it cool tho no worries pay back around the corner Pop smoke new album loading,” he wrote.

Swizz Beatz Talks the Omission of Pop Smoke on DMX’s ‘Exodus’ Album

Pop Smoke’s verses couldn’t appear on Exodus as they were already used

DMX’s first posthumous album, Exodus, arrived on Friday (May 28), and fans can’t be more than happy to embrace the new project. As the 13-track record continues to receive spontaneous spins, many have been trying to find answers as to why Pop Smoke’s verse is missing. Swizz Beatz, one of X’s close pals, hasn’t been open about the issue, until now.

In a new interview with The Breakfast Club, Swizz explained why Pop didn’t end up appearing on Exodus. “They used the verse already. I know X wouldn’t want an old verse. We fought for it.” He also revealed the verse was “pulled out of nowhere” before adding, “It was two verses and both of them was used. We went to get another verse and it was used.”

To replace Pop’s place, Swizz Beatz explains that he had to tap Moneybagg Yo on “Money Money Money.” “I just put Moneybagg on the song,” he said. “Not that they the same energy, but they the same demographic. X wanted to touch that part too. I’m not mad at it. I like Moneybagg verse better anyway.”

X had revealed in a Drink Champs interview that Pop would feature on Exodus right before he passed. The late New York Drill rapper’s collab was one of the most anticipated.

As much as many fans are disappointed with Pop being left off, X’s new album has been getting a lot of love and positive reviews. What do you think of DMX’s new album?
