    Redman reveals major earnings from his “Dirrty” collab with Christina Aguilera

    The 2002 single “Dirrty” by Redman and Christina Aguilera was a smash hit and, as the celebrated rapper has disclosed, it has made him a significant amount of money over the years.

    As part of his interview for the Red Bull Spiral series on Tuesday, Redman spoke about the success of the big single and its effect on his pocket.

    “Christina is one of my favorite collabs,” he said. “I did a song called ‘Let’s Get Dirty’ featuring DJ Kool and she liked that so he made an R&B/pop version of that record. So I got on the record and after that, that shit took off. We was everywhere, bro. She brought me on tour, we was overseas. That album, [Stripped], was one of her biggest albums.”

    He continued: “And we was everywhere and I got to actually see how a pop artist shakes and moves through this industry and it’s another level than Hip Hop. And plus my publishing check?! Oh my God! My publishing check, n-gga?! I couldn’t believe I got that much money for one verse. It was over $250k my first check.”

    Redman teases new album

    Redman has only raised the bar when it comes to excitement regarding his much-awaited album Muddy Waters Too, moving on to officially unveiling an album cover image.

    This project, the sequel to his acclaimed 1996 album Muddy Waters, has a retro-’90s feel in its artwork. It shows the rap icon crouching in front of a house bathed in an eerie red glow.

    With the forthcoming release, Redman is set to drop his first album in nine years. The recent news has had the fans buzzing again, including some of his fellow hip-hop legends.

    Wu-Tang Clan rappers Method Man and Redman hit Hot 97 Summer Jam’s stage on June 2 at the UBS Arena in Belmont, New York, but the former wasn’t satisfied with the crowd’s response.

    The rapper slid into the comments of an Instagram post about their performance declaring that they won’t return to the show since the event was overshadowed by younger artists.

    “Not our crowd at all,” Meth wrote. “Thanks again, New York and the whole tri-state (that showed up to the event) plus Pete[er Rosenberg] and Ebro [Darden] I got love for you guys, but never again.. at this point the generation gap is just too wide for me.. #nevercomingback”

    New Jersey rapper Redman aka Reginald “Reggie” Noble was born on April 17, 1970, in Newark. He got his start with EPMD along with Keith Murray. His solo career with Def Jam is legendary and he is 1/2 of rap duo Redman and Method Man, and 1/3 of The Def Squad.

    He’s worked with Christina Aquilera and Pink in addition to the Wu-Tang Clan and others. His episode of MTV Cribs where he features his two-bedroom is ironic yet the stuff of legends. He is an avid cannabis smoker and has done some acting. Redman’s label is called Gilla House.

    “My first joint was when I was 14.. With my uncles, I went hunting. I was hunting in Alabama and my two uncles, Uncle Al and Uncle Will… took me hunting and they let me hit the joint and shit, cause I always love that smell and shit, for some reason I love that bud smell back in the day, I used to be like what is that, my nose was so interesting back when I was young… They let me hit that bitch and when they let me hit the blunt that’s when actually a rabbit ran out in front of me. I got high for the first time, I tried to poke it and that was it, that’s my little story.”
