    SZA set to earn a successful opening week with ‘SOS’

    SZA dropped her highly-anticipated album, SOS, on Friday (December 9) and it’s set to earn her a massive opening week. Per HitsDD, the album is predicted to debut at No. 1 on Billboard 200 with 275-300K equivalent album units earned in the first week.

    The long-awaited album was streamed around 100M times on the day first of release. The project is also on its way to becoming the sixth or seventh biggest release of 2022.

    Released via TDE and RCA, SOS follows up on the 33-year-old’s 2017 album, CTRL.

    With her new album SOS out now, SZA discusses the inspiration behind the cover. While recently talking to Hot 97, SZA disclosed that the photo was inspired by the Princess of Wales, Diana, who took the original photo while on a trip to Portofino, Italy, in 1997.

    “Originally I was supposed to be on top of a shipping barge, but in the references that I pulled for that, I pulled the Diana reference,” SZA explained. “Because I just loved how she isolated she felt, and that was what I wanted to convey the most.”

    SZA also talked about how she secured the features on her latest album. “DMs and, like, begging people,” SZA revealed. “Sometimes people turn in their verses and sometimes they don’t.” She added, “And a lot of people just like did not turn in their verses, but I’m grateful for who did.”

    TDE’s SZA is fresh off unleashing her long-awaited sophomore album, SOS, which hit digital streaming platforms on Friday (December 9). While thanking “every single person that played a part” in pushing her to drop the album, SZA announced that she is releasing the deluxe soon.

    “SOS is now out of ALL PLATFORMS! .. thank you to every single person that played a part in this . Every producer , My label , my engineers ,My management my FRIENDS . My family , my godparents, my ancestors ,my granny (cause I know she watching🥹) Yemaya + ochun and every single person that believed in me and pushed me to drop . I love you . Please enjoy,” she wrote on Instagram.

    She then unveiled the good news about an expanded version of SOS being on the way: “Ps. Deluxe out soon.”

    ‘S.O.S’ boasts 23 songs

    As SZA prepares to unleash her sophomore album, S.O.S, the Missouri singer shares the official tracklist for the project. Revealed on Monday (December 5), the 23-song tracklist includes guest appearances from Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Phoebe Bridgers, and the late Wu-Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

    Over the weekend, the 33-year-old singer unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming studio effort that features the song “Blind,” which she’d also debuted during her performance on Saturday Night Live.

    S.O.S follows up SZA’s 2017 album, CTRL. While fans have been patiently waiting for the singer’s next album, Billboard’s Heran Mamo listened to the forthcoming album and explained that it “justifies a five-year wait.”

    SZA has been sending shockwaves with the cover art for her upcoming album, S.O.S. The artwork, which closely resembles that of Baby Keem’s The Melodic Blue, shows SZA sitting in the middle of the ocean. According to Instagram posts by the team responsible for the photo, the image was literally shot at the sea by German photographer Daniel Sannwald and doesn’t involve photoshopping.

    In a since-deleted quoted tweet, SZA confirmed that the photo was real and wasn’t edited.

    The 33-year-old announced over the weekend that her forthcoming album will drop on December 9 via TDE.

    Singer SZA finally reveals the release date of her long-awaited album, S.O.S. on Saturday (December 3), SZA performed her song “Shirt” on Saturday Night Show, and at the end, the background screen displayed: “S O S 12/9.”

    The 33-year-old artist confirmed the title of the forthcoming album on her appearance on Billboard Cover Story last month. Billboard defined the album as “captivating” and boats “lo-fi beats sharing space with surf rock within the same track, a grunge record and an acoustic guitar-driven ballad coexisting without either sounding out of place.”

    The publication adds that the quality of the album “justifies a five-year wait.”

    It has been known that SZA and The Weeknd have song together, but it has never materialized. The latter hopped on the former’s “Die For You” remix but it never came out. While recently replying to a fan’s comment on Instagram, SZA confirmed the collab exists but wants re-do her verse.

    “Lmao it’s super old but it does exist. I should re record it,” she wrote. Weeknd later caught wind of SZA’s revelation and added on Twitter, “Yes please.”

    SZA is currently readying her next album, S.O.S, which set for release in December. It will be her first album in five years since she released CTRL in 2017.

    SZA’s album is dropping before the year ends

    SZA has starved her fans of a new album for five years, but the time has come for her to nourish them with a new body of work. The 33-year-old appeared on Billboard’s latest issue where she confirmed the album is titled, S.O.S, which arrives in December.

    The “Good Days” singer added that she’s “currently stressed” about all that it takes to release a new album. She admitted that she “stumbled into music” and doesn’t think she’s “emotionally [and] energetically unequipped” to be a superstar.

    Towards the end of October, SZA released the single “Shirt,” produced by Rodney Jerkins & Freaky Rob. It was accompanied by visuals directed by Dave Meyers.
