SZA has new music on the way

Top Dawg Entertainment singer SZA was celebrating her 33rd birthday yesterday (November 8), and she decided to excite her fans with an update for her next album. The crooner shared a trailer for new music on her YouTube that features a new snippet.

She also shared the teaser on Instagram where she hinted at the beginning of the countdown to her upcoming album. “Happy birthday to me. Clock starts now,” she wrote under the clip.

The St. Louis artist shared the single ‘Shirt” last month.

While talking about the album last month, SZA said it’s “all over the place” and that she doesn’t “even know what this album is about and what it sounds like.”

“I live in my ideal situation,” she told Complex. “I don’t have any deadlines, because at the end of the day, when my shit comes out, it comes out. And if ever I lose my ability to choose, I have no problem vacating my current life and doing something different. I’m not glued to being an artist for the rest of my life or anything for that matter. I’m seeing where it takes me.”

SZA says her upcoming album will drop “any day now”

SZA has yet to unleash her highly-anticipated sophomore studio album, but it looks like it’ll soon see the light of the day. The TDE artist recently ran into TMZ in the West Coast where she stated that she’s made around 100 songs for the album.

“Total? A hundred, maybe? Like, I don’t even know, actually,” she said before adding, “five years worth of material.”

Back in April, the Ctrl singer revealed during a backstage Grammys interview that she’s delaying the album in order to create a better project than her last.

“Even with this album, I just wanna be better than my last project to myself,” she said. “I wanna be a better writer. I wanna be a better artist, musician… a better thinker.”

TDE Punch was accused by SZA for delaying her next album

TDE boss Terrence “Punch” Henderson recently stopped by Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast where he spoke about TDE artist SZA’s July claims that he’s the reason the Ctrl singer’s next album is being delayed.

“You gotta understand the context, and you have to know the person,” Punch explained. “You have to know how something was said. If it was lighthearted. If it was serious, like what it was. If she’s responding to somebody and saying, ‘You gotta ask Punch.’ You can take that a gang of different ways based on your disposition.”

He added: “And you only get so many characters when you’re tweeting, and people get a whole story and run with it. What I always like to ask is: What do I gain from not putting the album out?”

He went on to explain what actually happened. “I remember one of the main things that kicked this off,” he stated. “I was dropping the ‘Hit Different’ record and Ty Dolla $ign was on the hook, but Ty had just dropped his single. So they called and asked could we wait for a week just to give him some run on what he was doing before we put ours out.”

SZA responds to Drake’s dating lyrics

On Friday, 21 Savage & Metro Boomin dropped Savage Mode II and fans have been going crazy about the project. The collaborative album came with only three features, Young Thug, Drake and Young Nudy. Being one of the only three rappers featured on the Metro Boomin-produced tape, Drake decided to make some clarifications on his verse in Mr. Right Now.

While it may be assumed that Drizzy was trying to keep the rhyme-scheme going, he definitely had memories of him dating St. Louis singer SZA way back. “Yeah, said she wanna fuck to some SZA, wait ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08” raps Drake in the middle of his verse.

Later on, SZA unfollowed Drake on Instagram without any direct comments. The Hit Different singer appears to have made her mind up and decided to share her reaction. SZA recently took to Twitter sharing her side of the story, even clarifying more details on the issue.

“So It was actually 2009 lol,” read SZA’s Twitter. “In this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol. I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait. Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm.. it’s all love all peace”, she added.

We are yet to receive Drake’s response on the issue, stay tuned for more information.
