Takeoff’s suspected killer to hire private investigator after judge grants him $5K

Takeoff’s murder suspect granted funds to conduct private investigation

The suspect in Takeoff’s killing requested the judge presiding over the case to grant him $5K so that he could hire a private investigator in a motion filed on Monday (December 5). Per NBC News, the judge granted the request after the defendant, Patrick Xavier Clark’s family claimed that they’d exhausted all their funds paying for his legal fees.

The court will offer the private investigator, who agreed to be paid a price lower than usual, a laptop and a printer to help him with the investigation.

According to police, during the time of his arrest, Clark had applied for a passport to Mexico. He also had a large amount of cash on him at the time. Clark’s legal defense contended that the trip was already planned and that it was later canceled.

“That was something that was already pre-planned, and it was canceled before he was arrested. So, I think that’s important. He wasn’t trying to go anywhere,” lawyer Letitia Quinones of Quinones & Associates argued.

Takeoff’s death: a punch was thrown in Quavo’s defense before shooting

New details emerge in Takeoff’s killing

It’s been over a month since we lost Migos rapper Takeoff in a fatal shooting in Houston, and the authorities are still digging out more details about the tragic situation. New York Times journalist Joe Coscarelli recently shared an affidavit that shows shots were fired from both sides before Take was fatally hit.

The document shows that Quavo was playing dice before getting into an argument with two opponents after losing money. After things got physical, a person named Willie Bland is said to have unleashed a punch in Quavo’s defense before shots rang out.

While Bland reportedly drew and fired his gun while somebody else shot back, his position and time don’t tie him to Take’s death. The suspect in the murder, Xavier Clark aka DJ Phat, who was recently arrested, was seen running away from the scene holding a bottle of wine while firing his gun. Detectives later found the bottle of wine and tested it for fingerprints, which matched those of Clark.

Police have arrested Takeoff’s alleged killed

Houston Police Department announced on Friday (December 2) that they had arrested the person believed to be responsible for Takeoff’s shooting death. According to Fox Atlanta 5, after Take’s death, Patrick Xavier Clark who’s being charged with Take’s murder applied for an expedited passport to Mexico.

During the “peaceful” arrest, the 33-year-old suspect, who’s also known as DJ Phat in Houston, was found with a large amount of cash.

Homicide Division Sgt. Michael Burrow revealed that witnesses were reluctant to come forward with information about the murder, forcing the authorities to take their time checking surveillance and phone footage to identify the fatal shooter.

Burrow added that by recreating the crime scene, “we were able to deduce that Patrick Clark is the lethal shooter in the case, that’s why he’s charged with murder.”

“We’re going to come and get you, and we come and get you professionally, but we come in force with everything that we have, and he gave up,” Houston Chief Police Troy Finner recalled addressing the suspected killer.

Clark is being charged with Take’s killing and his bond is set at $2M. “We made a promise that we would get the individual that’s responsible for the murder of TakeOff in custody,” Finner revealed in a press statement. “Yesterday evening, we arrested Patrick Xavier Clark, 33 years old, and he was charged with the murder of TakeOff.”
