Joyner says his issues with Tory were real

Joyner Lucas was recently forced to clear the air about DaBaby’s comments that an unnamed rapper tried to provoke a fake feud with him, which led some fans to believe Joyner was the culprit.

After Joyner made it clear that Baby wasn’t talking about him, he went ahead to affirm that his 2018 beef with Tory Lanez was very real.

“And another thing…. I did not create a ‘fake beef’ with Tory. He called me out on IG live. Do your research. As far as logic goes, I had legit personal issues with him too and some misunderstandings, even a fault on my part with him, I can be a real nigga and own up to that. Stop attaching me to this dababy interview,” he wrote on X.

    Tory to remain in prison

Tory Lanez will have to remain in prison as the California Court of Appeal denied him bail this week. According to court docs shared by court reporter Meghann Cuniff, the judge couldn’t offer bail because the “appellant has not shown that the superior court unjustifiably denied relief.”

Prosecutors in Tory Lanez case say rapper’s motion for a new trial is “baseless”

Tory’s prosecutors say his quest for a new trial is futile

Prosecutors in Tory Lanez’s shooting case say the motion filed by his defense for a new trial won’t be granted in court, according to Law & Crime journalist Meghann Cuniff via her Substack outlet. The prosecutors say the filing “lacks substance” and that the Sorry 4 What singer’s defense is making claims that are baseless.

Prosecutors add that for a new trial to be granted, the defendant should be able to “demonstrate a reversible error or other defect.” They claim that Tory’s argument for a new trial is grounded on factors that they didn’t challenge during the original trial.

    Tory’s defense files an appeal

Tory Lanez’s legal defense files an appeal following the rapper’s conviction in December last year in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. According to TMZ, Tory’s legal team, including lawyer Jose Baez, cited mistakes made during the trial, particularly reliance on irrelevant evidence.

Some of the concerns Tory’s defense raised was the testimony of Meg’s former friend, Kesley Harriss, who changed her narrative while taking the stand in Tory’s trial. Tory Lanez was convicted on ** on charges of carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He will be sentenced on April 10.

Tory to file for a new trial

Tory Lanez’s sentencing has been postponed in order to allow his legal team to file for a new trial. The R&B artist was slated to appear in court Tuesday (February 28) for the sentencing, which never happened, per legal reporter Meghann Cuniff. The sentencing is now set for April 10.

Another reason for the delay is to give time for prosecutors and Tory’s defense to discuss the right sentence. However, Tory’s appearance at the hearing was necessary for his “waive time” and he approved “that his sentencing be delayed and that his lawyers need more time to prepare their new trial motion.”

Suge Knight says Tory Lanez new lawyer David Kenner would’ve helped him beat his murder case had he been involved

Knight discusses Tory’s new lawyer who once represented him

Suge Knight recently spoke with the Rolling Stone via a jail phone where he confirmed that Tory Lanez new lawyer, David Kenner, did work with him in other cases but didn’t represent him in the voluntary manslaughter case that had him sent to prison for 28 years in prison in 2018. Suge added that things would’ve different if Kenner was involved in the trial.

“If they’d have let me use David Kenner, I wouldn’t be having this conversation from prison with you,” Suge said.

David Kenner also helped Snoop Dogg beat his murder charge in 1996.

Suge says he understands what both Tory and Meg are going through

Suge Knight says he is familiar with what both Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion are experiencing after the former was recently found guilty of shooting the latter in the foot in 2020. As Tory gathers a new legal defense team for his appeal, he hired Suge’s former attorney David Kenner, and Rolling Stone called the former Death Row front man this week to ask him of his take on the trial.

“I understand what Megan goes through because when Tupac and I got shot in Vegas… I got a fragment and a bullet an inch to my skull today. They didn’t remove it because they said if it went another inch I’d have been a vegetable or dead,” Suge explained. “So I know what it’s like when people say, ‘You didn’t get shot, this didn’t happen, she’s lying.’ They accused me of stuff (too).

“If he’s guilty, that’s one thing. But if he didn’t have the right person representing him to get a fair shake, that another thing.”

He added, “Right now, Tory is probably going through [the] worst days of life, because the county jail [is] so horrible and dirty. The food is garbage, the cell is freezing, it’s dirty and nasty. You could be sitting in your bed at night, and a rat might run across your chest, or it might bite you, roaches is all over your bed.”

Tory’s new lawyers will base appeal motion on mistakes made in previous trial

Tory Lanez is not happy with the way his previous lawyers handled his case that saw him handed a guilty verdict. Rolling Stone reported on that a close source to the Toronto rapper says he regrets refusing to testify in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. The “Litty” rapper had taken the advice from his then defense team.

One of his recently-hired lawyers, David Kenner, acknowledged that the appeal for a new trial “will rely heavily on what we believe to be mistakes made in the previous trial.”

He added, “There is another side of the story at trial which has yet to be told and we look forward to doing so.”
