Wale puts Future in Top 10 GOATs

Wale believes Pluto is one of the greats of all times

Wale has publicly expressed his fondness for Future, who he put in his list of the ten greatest rappers of all time.

The D.C. based rapper appears to have been inspired by what Hendrix’s Mixtape Pluto project has to offer, as he has previously expressed. This was the message he posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the Freebandz president on September 30.

“Future means so much to Hiphop. A top ten. Im not debating that one,” Wale tweeted.

In a follow-up post, he continued: “I got some folks fired up today … I seen.. excuse me for havin a diverse palette … art is subjective. Im listening to The Beach Boys right now and then Devin the dude. Yall like what yall liked…see yall on the road [blue heart emoji, moon emoji].”

The mixtape will arrive on streaming platforms next Wednesday (April 29)

There’s a handful of mixtapes that come to rap fans’ minds when the conversation of “what albums should be on streaming platforms” comes up. Wale’s More About Nothing mixtape is one of them.

The 2012 mixtape is officially coming to streaming services — 12 years later. Wale teased a trailer of the re-release on Twitter.

“Thank Jerry Seinfeld,” he tweeted as a follow-up. “That guy made all the calls to clear so much.”

Jerry Seinfeld narrated the mixtape, based on scenarios and portions from his infamous show, Seinfeld. The tape ultimately led to Wale’s signing at Rick Ross’ MMG imprint.

The mixtape was released on August 3, 2010. The project even featured one of Wale’s most prominent records, “No Hands” with Rosco Dash and Waka Flocka Flame.

  • Wale Samples the Same Record as Q-Tip on “Poke It Out”

Wale Samples the Same Record as Q-Tip on “Poke It Out”

Wale‘s recent track probably sounds familiar if you were a fan of Q-Tip’s 1999 album Amplified. It featured the hit record “Vivrant Thing” produced by Q-tip himself. In the updated flip, Cool and Dre put their spin on the Abstract’s classic dance beat. The sample originally comes from a Barry White (Love Unlimited Orchestra) record called “I Wanna Stay.”

J Cole stops by to assist the ode to women with booties of all sizes. The track doesn’t need much help since the original beat is a serious uptempo groove. It’s always nice to see quality music becoming retro with a return to what makes it on the radio these days. Check out “Poke It Out” by Wale and compare it to the original.

Wale on why he left the management

Over the years, Maybach Music Group rapper Wale has found himself moving from one label to another. The D.C. rapper has released material through Interscope, Atlantic and Warner Music Group. He has also been under a management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation until in 2013 when he parted ways with the company.

All those years, the rapper hasn’t shared the reasons why he left Roc Nation until recently when he sat for an interview with N.O.R.E and DJ EFN at the Drink Champs show. “What happened was, I was in the Hov cycle for a long time,” the Folarin II rapper explains at around the 60-minute mark. “There was a time that I was on tour with J. Cole. At the time, I was opening for him. They said it was a co-headlining tour, but whatever, I was opening for him, and it was an elaborate stage and this that and the third.”

He added, “and somebody in my circle told me, ‘You’re losing 5 grand every time you get on stage. Not only are you’re not breaking even, you’re losing money.’ Me, at that point in my life, I forget what city we was in but I was on the bus and I got an offer to do a tour with two other artists. And I wanted to go with Cole because that’s my brother and we just did the Hov tour.”

“So, we was on the road, and I remembered I heard I was losing … I heard that from someone who was close to the joint. The shows is sold out and again, I’m a young n-gga, I couldn’t make sense of it and this was when The Gifted was out and it went No. 2 or No. 1 on Billboard. I couldn’t understand it.”

“I could literally be hosting clubs and making this a night.  I just had a meltdown for real and I remember whatever city I was in, there were three days left and I just quit the tour. I just quit.”

Wale sparked a movement last year releasing his song “Sue Me” featuring Kelly Price, which was one of his hit tracks from Wow… That’s Crazy. Today, he released a thought-provoking visual dedicated to Black culture.

The 8-minute Kerby Jean-Raymond-directed video walks viewers through the life of a Black person in America. Honey Boy and Manchester by the Sea actor, Lucas Hedges also makes an appearance.

“What if you could walk through a day in the life of an average African American young man? What would you see? What would you hear? What would you face? We wanted to redefine the whole narrative and allow everybody to step into these shoes,” shared Wale in regards to the video’s vision.

The video references a scene from the controversial incident that took place at a Philadelphia Starbucks two years ago, where two young black men were kicked out.

Wale and Bryson Tiller Share Visuals for “Love… (Her Fault)”

After delivering one of his most thorough albums to date, Wow… That’s Crazy, Wale releases another story-like visual for “Love… (Her Fault).”

The video for “Love… (Her Fault)” follows the story of his toxic relationship with his girlfriend that finds Bryson Tiller mixed up in the drama. The video intertwines love, drama, and comedy all in one.

Wale called on the help of Teyana Taylor and her production company, The Aunties, to help curate the visual’s aesthetics. He wanted to make sure he gave the people what they wanted. “Let’s do it as a family,” he tweeted.

His tweet also hinted that a video for “Break My Heart (My Fault)” is also on the way so be on the look out for that.
