The iconic duo reconnects for a powerful collaboration on Xzibit’s new album, ‘Kingmaker’

Xzibit has reflected on his long-standing partnership with Dr. Dre, comparing it to being recruited into The Avengers. The two have worked together for over 25 years, and their latest collaboration comes on Xzibit’s new album Kingmaker, with Dre making a notable appearance on the track “Leave Me Alone.”

In a recent interview with Billboard, Xzibit opened up about the experience of working with the legendary producer. He recalled their iconic collaboration on “Bitch Please,” saying, “The insanity of it was being a fan first and then you basically get recruited into The Avengers.” Xzibit emphasized the profound impact Dre’s direction has on his music, noting, “Even if it takes you out of your comfort zone, his experience elevates the record.”

“Leave Me Alone” almost didn’t make it onto Kingmaker, but Xzibit was thrilled when it came together last-minute. He explained, “Swizz Beatz did the track and Dre co-produced it. Having both of them on one track? I don’t think that’s ever been done.” The album also features appearances from hip-hop legends like Ice Cube, Redman, and Busta Rhymes, adding even more firepower to Xzibit’s long-awaited return.
