Kanye West‘s rep says the creator has donated $2 million toward charities involving Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery. Kanye has also set up a 529 college savings fund to cover Floy’d 6-year-old daughter, Gianna. Legal costs for Arbery and Taylor’s family will also be covered by Kanye.
In Chicago, where Ye‘ is from, he’ll be assisting black-owned businesses with financial aid.
Roughly, over the last 10 days, we have seen celebrities voice their opinions. Some have been set on fire for ignorance and not understanding the magnitude of this moment, while others have stood united with black people and the plight of every day living.
Derek Chauvin, former officer, has been charged with second-degree murder of George Floyd. Three other officers (Thomas Lane, Tou Thao and Alexander Kueng) were also charged with assisting and supporting the murder.
