megastar , is now a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nation's World Food Program

The singer, real name Abel Tefsaye (31), recently donated $1 million to the UN's World Food branch intended to help with the Ethiopian human crisis. 

Over the last year, he's donated over $3 million to various organizations.

In a statement, the “Save Your Tears” singer said that he'll use the platform to help address hunger and other humanitarian problems.

“The U.N. World Food Program is doing urgent and important work to change and save lives on a daily basis and I feel passionately about addressing world hunger and helping people in need,” he said. “Our partnership is an authentic extension of all our efforts and intentions to help those in need and bring an end to so much suffering.”

The Canadian hit-making machine also made several donations in the past year including $300,000 to the explosion victims in Beirut, Lebanon. He also made donations to citizens of the Lebanese capital city who were affected by the August explosion that killed over 200 people and left more than 6,000 injured.
