Drake has since shared his reaction of Drakeo's passing
West Coast rapper Drakeo the Ruler is dead after getting stabbed in the neck at the Once Upon A Time in LA Festival, Los Angeles Saturday night (Dec. 18). The 28-year-old rapper had just performed his set at the Exposition Park when a fight broke out backstage, leaving him critically injured.
During the immediate moments after the stabbing, police couldn't identify the victim, but a source directly familiar with the situation confirmed to The Los Angeles Times that it was indeed Drakeo, real name Darrel Caldwell, who got stabbed.
Following the incident, the festival was cut short and Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and 50 Cent's performances were consequently canceled. “The Once Upon A Time In LA Fest is ending early,” event organizers wrote on social media. “All performances are now over. Please head to the closest exit and head eastbound on MLK.”
A clip is circulating on the internet showing a group of people involved in a fight backstage. It is said that these were the moments that reportedly led to the We Know the Truth rapper's death.
“Nah man this shit isn't right wtf are we doing,” Drake mourned Drakeo moments after news about his passing broke. “Always picked me up with your energy RIP Drakeo,” Drizzy added.
