George Floyd’s daughter’s mother goes after Ye in new lawsuit
Kanye West recently got into the crosshairs of many after making some shocking comments about George Floyd on Drink Champs. The Chicago rapper claimed that Floyd’s life was taken by fentanyl use, and not by ex-cop Derek Chauvin, who was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 21 years in prison.
In response, the mother of Floyd’s daughter is filing a $250 million lawsuit against Ye, Rolling Stone reported on Tuesday (October 18). The suit states that Ye made “blatantly false statements” regarding Floyd’s demise to “promote his brand and increase marketing value and revenue for himself, his business partners, and associates.”
“The interests of the child are priority,” Witherspoon Law Group’s Nuru Witherspoon said. “George Floyd’s daughter is being retraumatized by Kanye West‘s comments and he’s creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her.”
“Kanye’s comments are repugnant to discount George Floyd’s life and to profit from his inhumane death,” Dixon & Dixon’s Pat D. Dixon added. “We will hold Mr. West accountable for his flagrant remarks against Mr. Floyd’s legacy.”
