Kanye West’s anti-Semitic comments have cost him his billionaire status
Kanye West is no longer listed as a billionaire after losing lucrative deal with Adidas, thanks to his anti-Jewish remarks in the past weeks. After the German sportswear company cut ties with Ye on Tuesday (October 25), Forbes reported that the rapper’s net worth dropped by $1.5 billion, effectively throwing him out of the billionaire’s club.
“I can say anti-Semitic sh** and Adidas cannot drop me,” Ye said during a since-deleted Drink Champs interview earlier this month, but he’s obviously realized how wrong he was about that.
“Adidas does not tolerate anti-Semitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness,” Adidas stated in a press release after being under constant pressure to end Ye’s deal.
“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”
