The initial phase of Melly's trial kicks off
YNW Melly has been sitting in jail since he was arrested in February 2019 for allegedly killing his buddies 20-year-old Chris Thomas (YNW Juvy) and 21-year-old Anthony Williams (YNW Sakchaser). The Florida rapper's trial is underway as jury selection began on Monday (April 10). The trail will kick off on June 5. If convicted, Melly is facing death penalty.
Melly's mother took to Instagram to share an update of her son's case, revealing that jury selection will continue through the next two weeks. “Official update on YNW Melly we started jury selection today and will continue over the next 2 weeks,” the post read. “Trial will start June 5, 2023. No more delays. #freemelly2023.”
“Melly coming home,” she added in the caption. “Today I went to court expecting more delays but we started jury selection. I can't explain how I feel my anxiety is everywhere but God got us.”
