The suit had previously been dismissed

‘s “This Is America” plagiarism accuser Kidd Wes returns to court to further challenge court’s 2023 decision to dismiss the suit.

According to Courthouse News, Kidd Wes only registered the copyrights to the lyrics of his 2016 track “Made In America,” but failed to register copyrights to the composition of the record. However, his lawyers call the mistake an “administrative error.”

“He submitted the audio and checked the sound recording on the form. And what he did not do is check the words and box,” U.S. Circuit Judge Michael Park said. “If that’s right, how is that not a technicality, as opposed to a substantive failure?”
