Kanye West may have had a change in music genre, but it doesn’t look like he had a change of political views.
Kanye stated earlier today at the Salt Lake City Sunday Service that he would not deny his support of President Trump. He explained, “Abraham Lincoln was the Whig Party–that’s the Republican Party that freed the slaves,” before he told the crowd he refused to deny his support of Trump just because of his race. “I ain’t never make a decision based only on my color. That’s a form of slavery – mental slavery.” Looks like Ye still can’t leave the political talk at home.
The 42-year old rapper has faced criticism for his political statements in the past. His TMZ interview last year that took the internet by storm after Kanye said, “Seems like slavery was a choice.” Following that, he was ridiculed for his visit with Trump at the White House while sporting the controversial “Make America Great Again” hat.
Our real question is, when is the album coming out? I guess we will have to wait and see, as Kanye has been full of surprises as of late.
