In 1995 during the Source Awards, OutKast, which consisted of duo Andre 3000 and Big Boi were booed after Winning Best New Rap Group at the 1995 Source Awards. The West Coast and East Coast were beefing at the time, people were surprised when OutKast won Best New Artist because they were from the south so they started booing.

“But it’s like this though, I’m tired of them closed minded folks, it’s like we gotta demo tape but don’t nobody want to hear it. But it’s like this.. the South got something to say, that’s all I got to say.” Andre 3000‘s response to getting booed
