Queens rapper Cormega was born on April 26, 1970, as Cory McKay. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, he grew up with Nas and other local acts. He was in jail when Illmatic came out but getting a shout-out on “One Love” helped start his career.

Cormega was set to be part of the original lineup of The Firm with Nas, AZ, and Foxy Brown. He was replaced by Nature. The fallout led to a feud that would persist until 2020 when Nas and Cormega reunited the original group on his album King’s Disease. Cormega is the CEO of Legal Hustle Records and has been independent since leaving Violater.
