Gambino emerges triumphant in plagiarism lawsuit
Rapper Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino wins the day in the lawsuit involving his 2018 hit record, “This is America,” according to Allhiphop. Gambino was sued by Emelike Nwosuocha, also known as Kidd Wes, who claimed that the rapper had copied the flow of his song “Made In America.” The lawsuit also went after Roc Nation and Young Thug.
Wes' suit claimed that Gambino's record “unmistakably substantially similar, if not practically identical.”
However, a judge concluded that Wes didn't properly register the song's copyrights with United States Library of Congress thus overturned the suit.
